Bah! GLAADs claim has no merit. The statement made by the critic could apply to anyone or group of people - he does not call out homosexuals or lesbians specifically - just because the movie is features two homosexuals does not mean he is "gay-bashing," he is merely reporting what he saw through his gi-gundous glasses and personal filters.
Further:
"Shalit's bizarre characterization of Jack as a 'predator' and Ennis (Heath Ledger) as a victim reflects a fundamental lack of understanding about the central relationship in the film and about gay relationships in general," GLAAD said in a statement. "It seems highly doubtful that Shalit would similarly claim that Titanic's Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) was a 'sexual predator' because he was pursuing a romantic relationship with Rose (Kate Winslet)."
GLAAD further goes on to assume, but not have any evidence to back up, what Shalit would say about another movie.
Obviously, another group of fleshbags with too much time on their hands. I'm offended that they're offended! Quit yer b1tchin' and get back to work! We gots terrorists to kill and eat!
BTW - Shalit's moustache actually serves to filter out contaminates in the atmosphere - the government will be asking all US citizens who can, to grow a moustache like his to help improve the environment.
