If that is so I stand under correction..... np
Geez...she must be more than 3 months........
Your Point is? certain cultures, again, never mind religion, because that is an argument of convenience, believe life is created at inception not birth. Thus will look upon abortion, in this instance rather than threat to life, victim of rape etc, as an act out of economic convenience.
Tis why so Many Cultures do not agree with Americanism. To complicate matters in Africa as much of the Anglo-Dutch World their is a lawa in place called nasciturus fiction which is designed to protect the rights of an UNBORN child.
Thus, for example, if a child is born with a disability as a result of a Vehicular Accident, and the child is born with a disability as a direct result of the accident, the driver/owner can be held liable......
Or lets take for instance.... the woman would have the child....out of wedlock...where the woman was stoned to death or alienated by the community.....and the child was exposed...left to the elements to die...is that not cruel...brutal....unjust...
I agree with you on his point but this happens all over. Teenagers in the States leave kids in rubbish dumps etc..... Again, Lets take religion out of this as I do not accept Religion nor have I refered to religious beliefs...... lets keep it that way. I like the matrix, of Cause and Effect, If Someone chooses to do something, bear the consequences, Male Or Female. religion and culture are thus 2 seperate entities.
I think you need to contextualise your statements... I have no problem with birth control either. condoms are good things, but they are not 100 %. Part of being an adult is accepting consequences.
My outlook, as much of Africa is Communal rather than Individual, So I do not agree with alot of things about the individual over the community. I am not even Christian.
All I would like to bring across is Yes, Birth Control is ok, That was not my Problem, Abortion for economic reasons is My Problem....... That is why I spoke with dimwit ...... Abortion fr economic reasons is not viable its murder ..... my culture accepts that a child is alive at the point of conception, it may not have a conscious at the sentient level but its alive.
No I cannot get over abortion being ok. Rape and Prostitution have also been around for along time, is that ok?! Please your arguments are emotive and thus ...... anyways. thanks for replying

i dont disagree at all....did i say i did? i know im a kook but not quite that big a one. i posted this because i was interested in what everyone's thoughts on such matters were ....more as a survey than eneything else. and it seemed like a good topic to start a lively discussion.
Ergghh no you didn't....just had my sights misdirected by an earlier post, and I agree it is a lively discussion, sorry for veering off onto a side issue........
There have been tackier objects sold in this world, all with the theme of religion on it in some form or another (toast with an impression of Jesus?), as to the point though, it's a selling tactic, maybe the author knew full well the controversy it would spark, maybe these people do have a thing with the Church, but to sanction them because it offends, is not good enough....
Neg is right though, it is not a very creative way of sending a good message, but maybe that was the point?, after all I am sure the majority of these individuals who represent the Planned Parenthood have some issues.......with the Church?

Get your head out of your a**, sunshine:
LIBREVILLE, 27 Dec 2004 (IRIN) - Illegal abortions accounted for more than one in four pregnancy-related deaths in Gabon in 2001, according to a Health Ministry survey which has just been released. Many of them were teenagers.
“Abortion was the leading cause of pregnancy-related deaths in 2001,” said Elisabeth Makaya, head of the Ministry’s infant and maternal health department.
The survey, released last week, showed back street abortions caused 28.8 percent of pregnancy-related deaths in 2001. They accounted for 110 of the 407 fatal complications that arose during registered pregnancies that year.
Separate statistics indicate that 15 percent of women of child-bearing age in Gabon - between 15 and 49 -undergo illegal abortions.
The figures mirror a stream of newspaper reports in recent years about foetuses found in rubbish bins, or dumped on back streets in poor neighbourhoods. Such reports illustrate the fact that young girls living at home in this Central African country of 1.3 million people will go to great lengths to terminate an unwanted pregnancy. (you said America has aproblem)
A study of more than 14,000 pregnancies carried out in 2000 by the Gabonese Midwives Association showed that teenagers accounted for 27 percent of the total.
This was largely due to early and unprotected sex between teenagers, the study said. It noted that 23.8 percent of girls aged between 15 and 19 had sexual relations for the first time at the age of 15. The figure was even higher for boys in the same age group at 48.1 percent.
“Globally, teenage abortions are caused by ignorance and lack of information,” the study said.
Similarly, lack of information means women are generally unaware that abortions can kill, gynaecologist Helene Ona Ondo told IRIN.
“It’s deplorable that very few women or teenagers are aware of the physical risks they run when they abort,” she said. “You have to look out for complications even when curettage (removing the foetus with a sharp instrument) or aspiration are carried out by professional health workers, so imagine what can go wrong with unsafe methods.”
In Africa, where most countries have restrictive abortion laws, more than four million unsafe abortions occur each year, according to UN surveys published in 2003. More than 40 percent of the world’s deaths due to unsafe abortion occur in Africa.
Thousands of other women survive, but many are left with injuries and disabilities such as uterine perforation, chronic pelvic pain and secondary infertility, the surveys said.
In Gabon, abortion on demand remains illegal. However, under a 2000 law, it is allowed if a doctor certifies that the life of the woman is at risk, or that the foetus is perceived as abnormal.
Illegal abortionists face between one and 10 years in jail if caught.

I never said Africa was perfect or without her problems. I find it quite funny how the media portrays and skews events here. Backstreet abortions are happening for sure as they do in the states, less perhaps. That is my point, it does not justify anything. I believe culturally, that if one stays within ones bounds there would not be these issues.
They do not stay within these bounds, hell, come to Cape Town, We have Kids selling themselves to foreigners for money especially young boys (maybe between 9 and 14 yrs old). Does that Make it right? Little boys even, but I digress.
The problem is not with Africa, which is a discussion which I wanted to avoid as it has taken me off topic. What is at issue for me is the fact that abortion for economic reasons is ofay in the west.
we do not understand that. you guys account for a quarter of cocaine sold in THE WORLD, do I hear anyone calling to legalise that? So what is the difference between that and 40 % of deaths from illegal abortions. if you do what you do, accept the consequences. simple as that.
if you are fortunate enough to become pregs, put it up for adoption. many people adopt children. hundreds of thousands of people adopt. if you really dont want have a kid, use a condom, but abortion as a resort, no, that is not an option from an economic perspective. if the who (world health organisation) comes to me and tells me and my clan it is 25 % better for our people to abort than to go through with pregnancies any pregnancies, what are they really saying? why have children at all, oh man the sky is falling..... dimwit... you should seriously emancipate yourself from mental slavery. none but yourself can free your mind (bob marley)
As for your last comment, That is so P.C. Ahhhh P.C. A person has a choice sure..... Use a condom. If you pregnant put it up for adoption, aborting a child for economic reasons is well, wrong. If you dont wanna have kids, have a procedure done..... tie the ovaries, get your testes done or something.
As for the popeye reference at least you did not call me a coon ..... or something else..... we leave it at that. perhaps i misunderstand you, and you me. thank you for repsonding.
