Patent for FAT
Hi,
Just out of curosity, Has Microsoft Patented the FAT file system.

Microsoft does indeed hold the patents for FAT
They were called into question by PUBPAT (The Public Patent Foundation) in 2004, however after review they were upheld...

Yeah, there has been legal issues since 2004 with the Patents, IBM and Zerox have taken then to court twice and in a sense won their cases, where as MS's patents where rejected but the decisions that rejected the Patents where non-binding, which allowed Microsoft to appeal.
Unfortunatley at a Patent Appeal only the company in question (MS) is allowed to put a case forward, so in Jan this year MS put their case to the patent commison and won - this time the decision was binding and can never be appealed againt! Another feather in microsofts cap!
