I couldn't believe that this site would include the directions. Don't ask how I found it. It came up in an innocent conversation!

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.

He or she then places a small piece of a steel wool at one end of the pipe tube and puts the rock on the other side of this filter.
It's not usually steel wool. Steel wool tends to burn up from what I hear, apparently there is a funky coating on it or something. "Chore Boy" scouring pads work best apparently.
I have never smoked crack, but I live around it.
