Oh this is nearly as exciting as the boxing! Are any of you chaps into psychology, because this thread is a splendid place to learn.

How wonderfully put, but for a couple of things, firstly, good communication relies on assumption to a certain extent, particularly the art of persuasion and very good communication relies on how to circumnavigate assumption, either way, without assumption, we have very discriptive sentences (that would send you into quite a deep trance after 7+/- 2 observations, try it on someone it is an interesting phenomena called hypnosis) that would be hard pushed to get any context.

The other point is that if you look at what you have written, and throw it back into your own context if you like, you have made a "meta assumption" if you like, by assuming that they assumed you were a little kid. I have to admit, I didn't see it that way, I saw it as a way to get under your skin and upset you, like saying "hey, I stuffed your mum one" and 10 out 0f 10 guys, you did a great job!

Why get heated, I have learned that heated newbies don't last long anywhere, but then in my experience neither do smartarses like me.

I dunno... It just seems to me like the Canadians seem to be making the most outrageous statements recently... You know, like "Those to the south of us live in a fascist state" [paraphrased through laziness... ]... It becomes wearing after a time... If for no other reason than I _know_ you are far too intelligent to really believe that... well what can i say, ive been to many forums, irc networks etc. way before i came here to AO.
BTW if u want ANOTHER good forum. u can go to Blacksun (http://www.bsrf.org.uk/) they use to be http://blacksun.box.sk but i guess they changed their address now, new site aswell.

I use to go there, read the forums, go in their IRC and listen in on the daily lectures, (yes they do lectures aswell, like tutorials only inter-active)

But all in all, AO is my home. ive been here since 2001. wow 5 years.. I should get a medal for this lol. I know everyone here in AO, well most of the seniors. And i talk to them on a daily basis in IRC. so its all good.

well i believe i interpreted, not assumed, what he said, through several references to me being a jeuvenile, or kid, or child. It seemed rather straight forward. the following were just a few i found in one post. "Then move on dear boy", "I was kicking the ass of stupid little children like you", "Trot along now and play with your little friends....".

but enough of this, its over (i think).
