Why would you come here to post security information... oh wait... this is a security site... I forgot... I wasn't sure... but judging on the ads... and the posts I thought we were an MS or HP support group.. Anyways... over my next two weekends of geekified training... I should have some interesting items of which I can write about.. I decided their were some skills I needed to polish up and some items I wanted to practice... so yeah.. I'll have some tutorials to hopefully help out the site..

deb: sorry for stealin your thread.

    Peace,
    HT

    Does it really matter?

I get more greenies for being a complete dick and posting useless crap than I ever did for meaningful contributions.

Well I wasn't really keeping track.....oh bull I was to!!!!! It's the numbers muncher in me. Out of 'tudes first 400 posts: 110 were in GCC, 52 in Tech Humor, and 31 in Cosmos. That's 193 guano posts out of 400. That's almost half!

I remember my journey here. I was told upfront not to post one-liners and don't post very much in the junk rooms or I'd never see the green lights....So I didn't. (initially) And along the way the reds came a calling when I fell by the wayside.

Maybe those three forums need to become an Earned Site Benefit. Don't know what the criteria should be, but doggon, it's out of hand.

    cheers

But if that would be the case, then we'd have every n00bie post whoring etc like they already do just to get addicts accesse..

It would just add to the problem in the end. Maybe it's about time they stop the post count in those 3 forums or something.

You are right. I really don't think it matters, anymore. And yes, you are a complete dick quite a bit. hehe, j/k. I value your opinion d0pp. seriously. I need SOMETHING to make me laugh...

I agree, but I don't think it's as easy as that. There's so much code in the background that it would probably be more trouble than it's worth, andmay break something in the process.

I'll just go on with the red's and questioning his ancestry in replies.

I've not been here very long, I've only 58 posts, now 59. I'd hate to see GCC/Cosmos/Tech Humor restricted, it is part of my everyday read of AntiOnline. Even though I've rarely posted and I can only remember one that is not Security/Computer related, I believe it was the mirror one posted by Copyright, I try and keep it related to security/computers

@tt!tud3 does provide a level of humor, but should that allow him to become such a strong part of the community without contributing to the original intent of the community.

Should someone like myself, who tries to post pertanent posts that are relevant to Security/Computers, feel pressured to post things that do not support the community, as a whole, so that I too can hope to get all those greenies and access to addicts...won't happen.

I know my purpose here and hope to always(whether incorrect replies or not, I do try) post to the original intent of this site.

I like AntiOnline as it is, it has it's drawbacks and it's high points. Even with those like @tt!tud3, the Spec and what ever else, it adds to the character and whether you believe it or not, it adds to knowledge, a learning curve of sorts, learning how to deal with certain aspects of Internet and the overall internet community.

Ok, now I have 2 drivel posts

Actually i've been coming here since 2001 and reading posts on a daily basis, I just never subscribed until 2005. Original bookmark is dated Monday, March 12, 2001, 8:23:54 AM

I dont see where the problem is. Forums like cosmos and GCC are essential to any site. Most of my posts are in cosmos. Which is fine as you dont get APs for cosmos. The non cosmos threads I participate in tend to be either Windows problems or career questions.
As for post whoreing people will post whore in any case. if it is not for acces to addicts, it will be for the site titles. If it is not for the titles it will be to see their number of posts go up. As they say a fools speaks a lot and listens little. A wiseman listens a lot and speaks little.
After a while you can tell who will be posting what quality post.

As with every community, there are the good and the bad. Those who follow the rules and stick to the general purpose of the site, and others who just come to either wreck the fun of others or who post forgetting the reason the majority of others do so.

However someone contributes to a community, there are different types of 'good' ways. Sure, security-related posts are the most valid as that specific topic is what this site has grown to thrive around, but other posts can be considered good in other ways - for example, reading the latest chat in this forum is a great escape from work.

I have seen those websites mentioned before (I can't remember where), but they still make me laugh whenever I see them. And for those of us who have either not been here long or do not spend that much time here during the day, we can never be sure if what we are posting has been posted before - and in some cases searching is entirely unhelpful in resolving this matter. In the same way that these websites have been posted here before, how many more times have 'HELP ME I HAVE SPYWARE' threads been posted, each ending with the same instructions and replies?

// Debs, sorry for hijacking the thread - pretend we haven't been posting for the past page or so

    Cheers,
