And finaly.. which method worked?
The method that got the job done was to boot up with Phlak, on a thumbdrive, and then i put Sirdice's idea to work.

If you use it as something like dd if=/dev/hda1 of=/dev/hdb1 it'll copy hda1 (first partition on the first disk) byte for byte to the other disk.. So it'll include everything..
I had to do a little bit of fiddling, only because the first attempt did not go as planned, it cloned everything, but it got corrupted somewhere during the transplant.
Once i had recovered the data and safely got it moved to the fresh hard-drive, i had a look at what House929 suggested...
This program is very similar to Nortan Ghost, only it's a little more user friendly and easy to use and is not a resource hog, the only problem is that they don't tell you that with the free version you cannot use a CDimage to transplant from one hard disk to the next.
You need to purchase the professional edition to do that. But i purchased it anyhow, as i was extremely curious about it, and i am very happy with what i paid for it.
