Is your WMP up to date with the patches ?
Do you get any pop up message giving details of faults ?

1)Question one: what browser are you using?
2)Question two: are you sure that you have all the right plugins installed?
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I have windows media player 10. This computer is basically brand new. Home computer. I don't get any error messages. When I try to play a video in yahoo the window pops up and says "detecting Internet connection speed" but nothing happens.
Not too long ago I had to do a destructive recovery. Before that everything was fine.

to determine version of XP
right click on the 'my computer' icon on the desktop
select 'properties'
it s all there ..........
[edit]
are you havng any other issues with the PC ?
can you play video's / mpeg's etc that have been saved to the local machine ?
it could just be a 'streaming' issue, in that the online video is too large for your internet connection to 'buffer' at the speed it runs at, and so it times out / dies on you.
what speed IS your internet connection
dial up 56kbps
broadband 500kbps - 8Mbps ??
