meh. All you did was just go to here and then rehost the images. Why not link to the original source?
Oh and you didn't post the one from 1997 because of a connection error, no?

Yes, so what's your point? The whole point of this thread is to take the users through the time machine of AO... the question you just asked shows that you dont understand the whole concept of that .
Oh and you didn't post the one from 1997 because of a connection error, no?
No. I dont get a connection error, try hitting the f5 key
Why not link to the original source?
Oh sorry, what a sin. Looks like im on the highway to hell.
// Edit: The source for me using 'Highway to hell' comes from a ACDC song, full copyrights remain to them.

Ok my point is, by not linking the original site, and rehosting the image you give the perception that /you/ did all of this home work and that you were archiving AO. Since you didn't I called you on it... but in a gentle way.
In the future you should link any source you have for material. Way too many people try to plagerize or pass off research as their own on this site.

So then why didn't you post the /first/ one from 1997? Could it be that they have a database problem and cannot display it? I'm still going to bet it is a connection error.

Now you are just being silly. You got called out, and now you are upset about it and trying to lash out. I was /nice/ about it. I could have flamed but I didn't. I could have neg'd you but I didn't... btw nice comment on your attempt at a neg

Flamed? Hardly flaming is it ... cant you take a little joke... seems not.

I didnt meen to do that, a mistake and i apologize to anything i may of mildy (if at all) suggested.

Not that its excusable but it just seems silly that you are making this topic go so blantently offtopic becouse of something so petty. For someone who 'respects the owers' so much... look what forum your posting on... AntiOnline... the founder has broken many a copyright in the past (The founder has many a copyright, see: http://attrition.org/negation/injustice.html) .
So then why didn't you post the /first/ one from 1997? Could it be that they have a database problem and cannot display it? I'm still going to bet it is a connection error.
Becouse there wasnt any content of intrest to save as a image... it was just a java applet saying 'welcome', wouldnt be exactly what i call intresting

Ok my point is, by not linking the original site,
The Archive of websites of which they host, they do not own copyright for... so i am not obliged to link them as the copyright is of AO ... although if i wanted to i could do it out of free will and that is not what you suggested.
Can this topic now go back to its topic?

Maybe it was taken off-topic (with good reason imo... Lv4 makes excellent points) because this is the gazillion-teenth time the Wayback Machine shows up on AO... usually, people find it sufficient to just post a link...

Howdy.
Who cares how he did it, i appreciate the effort that he has gone to. He has obviously taken some time out and looked at all the changes that AO has taken in the past, and posted up some of the more significent ones and has just made a thread to discuss/ share them..
There is no reason to sit there and crucify him, what ever happened to the ol' community spirit of AO?
instead of sitting there picking out faults why not give him the credit for actually making a attempt at doing something positive...
i don't care how you linked them or anything else i enjoyed looking at the changes, greenies for making the effort.
Oh and you didn't post the one from 1997 because of a connection error, no?
I don't get a connection error the page loads up fine for me, maybe it's something screwy on your end..
