Hi
The cd and the drive are fully functional when i log into xp. I burnt 2 cds today after i tried this stuff. The xp cd worked fine on autorun when i placed it into drive. I even tried the media center cd but it gave same result.
Well the screen remains blank and processing continues so i cant possibly know whats happening.
I repeat the cd drive is fine.
Is there a way to get the boot files as on a boot disk so i can burn them to a cd and boot with it and use the command prompt from there for fixmbr. The same files used by floppy should work for cd. The official program from microsoft is a 4mb download and requires 6 floppies. As my drive is not working i cant use it.
Even in order to reinstall i have to make the xp cd to boot. It goes to the blank screen after the message "the setup is inspecting your hardware configuration". I think it shoud suffice for the fact that cd drive is working. Also it asks do you want to boot from cd.
