    Plus, i would think that since it is in tech humor one wasn't supposed to take it too serious

    I think the whole point this article was conveying is that some of these hacker/cracker movies were a bit over the edge. Thing is, these dramatic images of code and super intelligent hackers with 18 monitors, 20 keyboards, and supercomputers that can do your laundry are what the general public want to see. Not some disgruntled, unshaven, 9-5'er sitting in a cubicle (because then you'd have the movie Office Space).

    As for number 8 ...

    I've programmed in machine code (That's binary or zeros and ones). I've also programmed in assembler (next level up) and micro code (next level down).

    Not wishing to brag of course! lol

    Whoever originally wrote this was very wide of the mark, as has been pointed out. Still it is true that Hollywood often over sensationalises technology. I always take it with a pinch of salt.

    My favourite was the dial back to the kids computer using the accoustic coupler connection in "War games." From NORAD, after he found a "Back door." - raotflmao ....

    Great TV at the time though!
