VoIP potential dangers
I found this article quite interesting, it is from an Australian site that I visit from time to time
http://www.computerworld.com.au/inde...b16%3bfpid%3b1
The basic concept is that VoIP is just that.............IP. so you should be as cautious as you would with online banking.
As you might expect, this stuff is usually supplied in a dumbed down form to make things easier for users (I would never suggest "and to reduce support costs" )
So it is the old story of default settings and passwords etc.

People must just take the security precautions. Just because its VOIP doesnt mean the security goes out the window.
"Vendors' default voicemail answering messages are unique, so calling the system and listening to the message can tell hackers what brand IP phone system is being used and they can tailor their reconnaissance and attacks accordingly," Endler said"
How stupid. Vendors should really change this. Marketing VS security, hmmm.
The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.
