A "string of lights" picture is usually the first "experimental" picture someone takes when they buy a camera. It's caused by a slow shutter speed - Wikipedia has an excellent article on it, with a great picture to illustrate. Picture look familiar? Notice how in your picture the exact same "patterns" are present (the yellow-brown one, the white ones, the red ones). Paranormal my ass

I've actually seen slow shutter speed used to great effect.
spelling rude words with sparklers, shots of stars moving...I have a great one with a 1s shutter of the Blackpool Illuminations at 30mph. Very psychedelic.

Neg I didn't say it was paranormal. As far as I know those lights happen the same way Nothern Lights do.

Though the link is of course a good article

So how about clicking on some videos and EVPs and trying to debunk those

Those lights happen because of slow shutter speeds, and I think you know it. Northern lights are a naturally occuring phenomenon; your "things" are camera tricks.

It's not up to me to debunk them - it's up to the "paranormals" to prove them. They can even win a million bucks by doing so: http://www.randi.org/research/index.html .

Neg you've seriously never believed in anything paranormal? At all?

My whole experience with the ex's 6 year old daughter could be chalked up as a ghostly/supernatural experience but, the skeptic in me won't concede just yet. 6 year olds are smart, sometimes too smart for their own good.

She could have found some old pictures of the house, maybe remembered some things her mother had said in the past about her grandmother, etc. It could have just been a ploy for attention.

RC:Celtic Frist isn't right for the mood, try S.O.D (Storm Troopers of Death).

Dude the new Celtic Frost is down right CREEPY. I was listening to it driving in Kansas in the middle of no where and it was creeping my out. Jesus who the hell lives in Kansas anyway?

at that point we are lookign at startreck style teleportation.
Damn straight. In fact the show technology is tied in with another experiment that Moria posted in the End of Universe thread. The show uses a subspace mechanism. In the real world experiment a particle was accelerated in a special environment that is "outside" our normal universe. Meaning instead of space or a vacuum it used another medium. In doing so they apparently accelerated a particle beyond the speed of light. So not only is a transporter closer to reality so is WARP. When the enterprise WARPs or goes faster than light it drops into subspace via a field that is created around the ship. Spock calls it a WARP Field. This kind of removes the enterprise from our physical universe into a kind of alternate space by distorting space into a kind of wave that the ship rides on. The object meaning the enterprise never actually moves faster than light. Anyway, that's what those big cylinders do on the ship. The nacells. They are in that weird location because the radiation created is dangerous to humans so they are shoved way up there on the towers. Glowing red looking all cool and ****.

Yea there is a chance of that. Kids aren't as stupid as they let on at times, but it does give you that thought in the back of your head like "Was it really a picture or a conversation she heard or something that is going to make me not sleep much tonight?".

Thank God I haven't ever seen a Ghost in person, I'd need to change my pants as I'd be rapidly downloading brownware.

I have once seen.... Ok this could be a bit long:

A couple years ago, me and my cousin Matt were outside at his house and just kind of talking about stuff. Nothing really in particular, just talking. We saw what was like a flash of light and both looked at each other "Dude did you see that??".

We both saw it and then, no kidding, saw what looked exactly like the German Sheapard dog that his parents had when we were little kids. The dog had died years ago, but standing there stairing at us was this dog that looked EXACTLY like it.

We both were freaked out enough to not act tough and run. The dog followed us, stopped, and turned to the side, showing a stripe of color on it's fur that HIS DOG HAD....

We ran inside and told everyone and his Dad was like "Well I saw that dog earlier it's not even a German Sheapard" and we explained what we saw WAS.

When we left that night, we got in the car and saw a dog out there but it was by no means the same dog, it was a huntung hound looking dog, very very far from the one we saw.

That house freaks me out at night. He had no idea that before he was born his Mom had two misscarriages (SP?). One day he told me all freaked out that he was home alone and was sitting in his room cleaning a pellet gun and heard 3 knocks at the door.

He then heard someone say they were his brothers who had died... He got freaked out and reached for the gun, and something stopped him from grabbing it, it was like the gun was glued to the bed.

They told him not to be afraid and within a few minutes it was all over and he grabbed the gun he was cleaning and ran out.

There was no real way for him to know what had happened before he was born because at this time he was like 12 and they didn't really think he should know something like that happened at that age yet.

To this day we both don't like going in the attic, which to get to, you open a door that's in his old bedroom and go up the stairs.

His Mom has no problem believing any of that, she grew up in the same house my Mom did and saw some weird ****, hearing foot steps outside the door when no one was there, having the blankets un-ravle all the way down waking her up just in time for her to see them roll off her...

When I was about 5 years old, I was in my room up stairs in the house I grew up in, and I still to this day remember walking to go down the stairs when I tripped, started to fall, and something picked me up... It was REALLY weird and I had no idea what was happening. I floated down a few stairs and was put down.

I don't know HOW that happened but I didn't fall down the steps and to this day don't know what happened. I know I can't levitate on command, and it wasn't like I lived on the moon and floated because of that, but I still remember it because it freaked me out bad.

and most things can be explained. those shows are good for the kind of people who are not mechanically inclined whatsoever. they have no understanding of how anything works therefore they are easily pursueded when someone explains to them how something works. its good entertainment for them, and im fine with that, of course there is always possibility with the paranormal but i pretty much laugh nonstop when i watch those haunted house shows.
