Great info, Nihil.
I'll trade you my mom's Swedish meatballs w/ mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy OR my Porcupine meatballs in light wine and tomato garlic sauce for an authentic 'bangers and mash' recipe.
I love AO and computing, but my real passion is food and cooking. Yes, I'm a 'foodie'.

Hi there O~ I will check that out for you. I have a number of old recipe books, including some from electric and gas appliance manufacturer's in the 1950's.
I inherited a family recipe book that was started by some "great, great, great" back in the 1830's. Haven't looked at it for a while so I must dig it out and have a look. The older stuff is in beautiful copper plate handwriting, but the measurements need some translation, I mean........... "minims", "drams", "gills" and so on.
Hey, I will have to give you my recipe for "Faggots" (yes honest!) they are savoury meatballs in a thick dark onion gravy. I know the American meaning
In fact, a while back I had to get some store bought, frozen faggots just so I could send the pack front to a colleague in the American office. She had it framed and hung on the office wall, much to the amusement of all concerned
