I basically do what MsMittens suggested. I donate to my local library the books they will take. Some books are past even what the library will take, so I put those in the Good Will donation bins for sell there. For some reason tech books, no matter how old, always sell at thrift stores.

The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it. Albert Einstein

maybe ur first thing would be little smaller first
there are other ideas
like for example u smokers.. u can cut the book in the middle, and put some kind of isolation between the papers and cigarettes - maybe wood..aluminum stuff
this will make a cool geeky ashtray
the book has to be small.. but relatively lot of pages
other small books could be used for beer related stuff maybe
will post some ideas later

I do have a shiny new 52Mb drive but haven't yet decided whether to upgrade the IBM or my HP Vectra VS12 (that is a 286 with a 20Mb HDD and boots DOS 5.0/'Doze 2.01 )
Old technology books are fun, but not half as much as when you have the old technology to go with them
