Out of curiosity, how much do you charge? I'm charging about $45/hr but I always end up spending a lot more time per job than one hour if you consider preparation before I get there and stuff, but I only get paid for an hour. Kinda frustrating.
I've had some success at this in the past, but I'm not really sure how market skills like that. Or anything actually. I kindof suck at marketing...
Hey Keezel,
This is a very hard subject as most of my mates and then people that I know in my area etc etc.
$45 = around R450 in South Africa and is quite heavy. I would go for R250 = $ 25 - 30 p/h. You will have to ask someone in the states or UK to give you a rough idea.
However I have learnt that you must charge everyone for your time because they will jsut walk all over you in the near future. As I said the residential market is crazy now as every home has internet / PC - so there is huge oppurtunity for the side line jobs. I will take my own advice and start charging accordingly.
Remember the saying
If you are good at something never give it away for free
The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.
