It's called progress and the assimilation of an alien culture. Not that different from the "cargo cults" of the 1930/40s.
Hell, if they wanted to, they could play their music on Les Pauls and Stratocasters and use electric sewing machines.
At least the TV will help solve their overpopulation problem
