1- Yah dude, DeepFreeze is a commercial program. So, that 30 day period where it works is actually just a trial period so you can test it out to see if you want to buy it. I don't know what your finances look like but I personally think that the standard version of DeepFreeze is worth the 35 dollars a year subscription fee.
2- Dude, this is an interesting question to me...it really is. So, to solve it, I'd suggest you install VMWare on your computer, diagram your hypothesis or desired results and then use virtual machines to test your ideas and find your solutions.
