Unhappy Sudden Drop in site Page Speed Due to Images. Any Idea What Could Be Causing It?

    I run a small website

. Until recently, all my posts with multiple images were loading perfectly fine, but suddenly, the page speed has dropped significantly.

I've already tried compressing images and using WebP formats, but it doesn't seem to help much. What's strange is that these same images didn't cause performance issues before. Could this be related to hosting, caching, or maybe a change in how Google Page Speed Insights analyzes image optimization?

Would really appreciate any insights or similar experiences you guys have had.

It could be possible for Google Page Speed to try to change the Image format to WP.

It can happen when your hosting gets slow or your caching plugin stops working the way it did before, so even optimised images start loading late. Sometimes the CDN settings change without you noticing, or the server begins serving uncached versions of the files, which makes the page feel heavy. I have also seen Page Speed Insights update its rules, so it suddenly flags images that were fine earlier. Try clearing all cache layers, make sure your CDN is active, and check with your host if there were any recent server side changes that could be affecting delivery speed.
