I whas @ HAL 2001 and Hackertales.
Hal whas easy for me because it whas in Holland and Hackertales whas in Germany. Altough HAL got a lot of international visitors.
Basically it's a camp out but with a gig Lan and wavelan.
Many bring their laptops or computers/tents and there are workshops etc.
Also the leetest ppl come to give talks on stuff like drive by hacking etc.

Def Con 9 and Def Con 7, definitely changed from one to the other. I think it is a neat conference, I disagree with the *political* views of some of the `attendees', but I learned a lot and had quite a bit of fun.

Haven't been to any of the listed conferences but I went to SANS training. It was well worth it.

Keep a lookout for the following events in 2002

H2K, Juli in New York
Outerbrains, September in Holland
Dreamhack, November in Sweden
Chaos Communication Camp, December in Germany

I will be attending Dreamhack and Outerbrains for sure, I might make it to H2K. That is if some wacko doesn't hijack my plane.

Living in Ireland I would have to travel to go to a conferance but they sound really interesting.

I've been to a lot of 2600 meetings around here. They're really fun. Sometimes people bring PCs and T1s for connection and let us share bandwidth right there. Pretty kool.

In Holland we don't have 2600 meetings but Klaphek, this is a group that took over when Hacktic quit.
They write their own ezine and meet once a month, altough they hit the cafe just for chitchat :drink:

I desperately want to attend a conference...I feel it would be a wonderful opportunity for me to see what is out there. I want to go to H2K2 in New York (July I think).
The problem is that I can't seem to find any information on it....the 2600 site says to check back in February. I can't attend a 2600 meeting because of a work conflict and I haven't been able to find any local contact numbers.
Does anyone have any information about the H2K2 conference? or perhaps some contact numbers for 2600 in Washington State?
I would greatly appreciate any information.

Thank you in advance.

www.h2k2.com provides all dates, location, price and what not. Is that what you were looking for?

Umm, wheres the other button? I did go to Beyond Hope, and you didn't even list that? Unless by H2K, you really mean Hope? Because HOPE, Beyond HOPE, H2K, and H2K2 are all the same, just different "numbers." Much like Defcon 5, Defcon 6, etc. It always has the HOPE "Hackers On Planet Earth" somewhere in the title.

If you goto www.hope.net it will redirect you to the h2k2 website also.
