Is it possible to route a call trough a computer with cable internet, so that it looks like it came from your personal tell #? I was on my way to work, and i got a call on my cell phone. I didn't know who the hell it was, and after I got off I traced the # and it was placed from my business line in the basement of my house, and there was no one home at the time.... Also I have gotten some calls from a person who says that he was from at&t, at 3:00 A.M. in the morning!
If someone could help I would be very gratefull,

P.S. My systems have been compromised, is it true that you can hack a firewall like blackice defender with a properly named trojan?

Is it me or is there a sevear conflict between the text & signature line?
To follow the original question line... As said, yes, this can happen with ease. Sounds like someone who knows you as they also knew your pager number. Unless it's easily refrenced on your home system.
To go the next step... using slight internet phone software, they can also from their system connect to yours and dial to the other side of the world. Voice quality could very, but easy to do. Or... use as a hop to hide a breakin by routing through your modem to a dial up service provider.

But is there a way to have a modem answer an incoming phone call?
I wanted to use an older pc as an answering machine(as you can see I have too much free time).

Was the original call a voice call or strictly a hang up when you answered. If there was no voice, sounds like something simpler like a trojan or some kinda remote access that someone has compromised the system with. Using your own modem to dial your cel #. Is your cel # on your computer? Who knows your cel #? Anyone one you might know that could be after a little revenge or mischevious acts on you?

Korndogma,
One other possibility that it could be. Remember people are usually dumb, aswell as someone who would play such a childish prank on someone like that. An extremely easy way to place, intercept, and tap calls going to and coming from a house is just to run a line, or a remote divice can be attached to, your little gray telephone box that is outside. 99% of the time there is just a clip that is keeping it shut but if someone can gain access to that little gray box, they can then easily place a call from any one of the lines in your house, or apartment complex for that matter. {The set up to do so is aswell easy, there are 4 different colored wires, there are 4 wires in a telephone cord, Hmmm}
