I keep getting a timeout message when I try to connect to http://services.antionline.com/. Is anyone else having this problem or is the live chat temporarily offline? TIA.

I'm having the same problem. Don't know why.

Well, I'm currently using mIRC as my standard access to AO irc, and it's working.
However, I tried loading http://services.antionline.com and it is still loading (will most likely time out soon), so it could be that there is an issue with that server, ie, service is temporarily offline...

/me checks http://services.antionline.com ... Yep, timed out...

I asked people in the chat if they were connecting through the java page, no-one who responded was...

it seems that the java page is down for some reason....

Th java page is down since yesterday or even before... I couldn't get in using Java, reinstalled JRE cause I thought my box was the error, but I alos did get time outs... the page is blank...

However since yesterday, I use Trillian to connect to the chat. ;)

Looks like we'll just have to wait for JP to fix the problem...

IRC has 2 servers:
services.antionline.com
antichat.cmu.edu

The java page loads through services.antionline.com. If you connect through mIRC, trillian, etc, you normally point at irc.antionline.com. irc.antionline.com will send you to whichever server has a smaller load. services.antionline.com is probably down, and everyone in chat is using antichat.cmu.edu. The java page is supposed to go to cmu if ao is down, but doesn't always do it.

I just checked it.... services.antionline.com is down. I don't know if JP is working on it or what, but he is afk. everyone online right now is connected through cmu. In other words, you can't use the java client, but you can still use any other program. Just make sure it is pointed at irc.antionline.com and you will not have a problem.

zigar.

Sounds like a problem with your local machine. Probably something with your certifications in IE/Netscape/whatever. I didn't have any problem with it. You probably have to reinstall the Java Runtime Environment on your boxen.

Are you guys not using mIRC becouse you're at work?

Download it here (http://www.mirc.com) and then add the AO channel.

irc.antionline.com, it will automatically drop you in the channel on connection.

Don't mind me, it's all personal preferences, I just really like an irc client over a java client anyday.
