Since Firewalls are such a hot topic here at www.antionline.com and everyone uses them I want to know what you think is the best firewall And the "sorry ones" out there on the market. Now all these firewalls have exploits and are not 100% hacker-proof but again what is? I would have put more but my limit was 10. These are the one's I see and here about the most...

It all depends on the need you have and what functions and features you want in a firewall, and ofcourse how much money you want to spend on it.
I decided to not vote on any of the above since all of them not are in the same "category" and many good firewalls are left out. If I have to vote I would vote for jcdux's solution since its a good and stable firewall which can do many things and still are cheap to build.
But this is ofcourse imho and everyone should nurse their own opinion and stand for it :D.

I have 2 firewalls on my network ... an expensive Cisco Pix 515 and a not so expensive Phoenix Adaptive Firewall that resides on a Linux Box .... for me the Phoenix Firewall has made the difference , the Cisco one SuXXxxxx Big time .... a lot of the bad guys know all the funny glitches of the pix ... hasnt been the same thing with the Phoenix ;)
My humble opinion anyways

This poll is useless, you can't compare Pix with sygate and the lot.
There are personal firewalls and corporate, unless u coughed up $300.000 bucks for a pix to secure yer home connection wich I doubt.

hmmmm
IMHO... but most people that have had negative experiences with a higher end firewall product such as the pix or even IPtables/IPchains are usually slow to update, and dont confirm/test/update their rulesets and setup. Just my opinion but I've had luck with several firewalls. I also test them on a weekly basis, and continuously check for updates and new discoveries/holes.
Lets see the ruleset?? (oh yeah, from what I've seen with most home/end user products they dont really allow you too much control over the rulest anyways... this is automatically something to avoid for me)

Well i'm happy with the black ice firewall !
I think its the best around. But there is a case that when i sign in to my yahoo messenger the no. of attacks detected by the firewall are much more and more frequent in number. Does anyone know what may be the reason.
I have tried Mcafee but it didnt detected as much attacks as done by black ice. If this is so can it be said that the Mcafee firewall is not up to the mark ?
