So if you're like me you don't mind pedophiles being turned in and/or beaten to within an inch of their lives. Turns out some people in the Catholic church don't mind pedophiles, wonder, wonder.
see the article:

Seems to me that they have done so little for so long, (1000 years) that a little over reaction is well within order. Methinks. How about you?

I'm with you on the punishment side. Pedos are reprehensible.

In today's day and age I wonder what would compel a young man to join an organization that forbids marriage and requires celibacy. It seems that this type of org might be attractive to individuals who with pedophilic tendencies. I think the church should consider allow there ordained members (priests/nuns) to marry. This would open the organization up to an entirely different mindset. I understand that celibacy is considered a sacrifice for the Catholic God but I'm sure priests could make other scarifies (i.e. living closer to poverty).

I think pedophiles certainly ought to be punished. And the Church certainly shouldn't protect criminals just because they are priests or ministers. But I think the people in the article were saying, "Hey, let's not jump to conclusions just because an accusation has been made." Haven't all of us been wrongfully accused at one time or another? Our justice system operates on the principle of guilty until proven innocent. No doubt many of these accusations are true. But all the evidence needs to come out before a guilty verdict is given. Do you remember Richard Jewel, the guy they thought bombed the Atlanta Olympics? He was innocent, but he sure looked guilty for a while.

Understood but these people haven't been accused once. We are talking multiple instances and complaints, then the church would solve the problem by moving the pedophile around (my question to the church is " What do you guys think this is, a buffet?") and yet the accusations follow them. Seems to me that the safety of children should come before some pedophile's rights, ya know?

Yeah you're right KorpDeath. If someone is accused multiple times by multiple people, somebody should start saying, "Hmmmmmm? Let 's do something about this." And I agree, moving an abuser from one place to another is just asking for trouble.

Most other churches prefer married clergy.
Abolish celibacy and the problem would go
away.

I think a known pedophile should be taken out to a remote spot where nobody can hear his screams. Then strip him naked and make him stand next to a thick tree stump about waist high.......then nail his dick to the tree stump. After that, pour gasoline all over his dick and the stump. Then, hand him a knife and light him on fire. He will have to choose then whether to have his dick burned off or if he wants to cut it off himself. :firedevil:

How barbaric, I believe they only did that during the Taleban regime in Afghanistan.

Its not only tthe catholic church who seems to be protecting paedephiles - in the uk many are reloacted after serving their jail sentance and given new names - papers are not allowed to divulge the location or the names of these convicted paedophiles as it may cause them to be harrassed/assaulted - well I say go for it!!! A jail term is not enough they deserve to be shunned from regular society and should never be allowed to return to it wether under a new name/identity or not!! I know if I had kids I would want to know if there was a paedophile living in my area!

Protection of a convicted pedophile should not even be an option.
One, maybe two bullets and the whole problem is solved.
I went to catholic schools most of my life. (Yes yes, I accept your condolences). The opportunity for priests to abuse kids is astronomical. I remember bringing it up once in class, questioning why nothing was done, and getting the lecture of my life on proper christian behavior. What "proper christian behavior" has to do with raping children I'll never know. They simply don't want to face their own ugly reality.

The latest on the catholic church 35 priests just quit because they were abusing children including one of the head priests. This was on the american news today. I believe the only reason they quit is because more and more of the victims are coming forward to tell what really went on. The worst part of this is so many children were not believed by their parents when they told them. In Canada many children were abused and it was covered up by the church, but this was ok because many were native children which is really sick. There is a really good story on he web site www.nexusmagazine.com that tells alot of the horrible things that went on in the schools run by the churches and it happened all over. These children deserve better than this from people who supposedly are looking out for their souls. How many do the catholic priests have to destroy before we stop the destruction of our youth. As a mother I am totally disgusted at the way these so called people are handled but then again how many judges are in the same boat. Just recently one was found guilty of child porn and we wonder why the priests just get a slap on their peepee. Until we as a society demand that these creeps are locked up for good it will continue. We have to put our foot down firmly against light sentences for crimes commited against children whether its by a priest or anyone else.

this may seem a little rash but how about if the church passed a law or what have u that if u wanna be a priest than u have to be castrated. this may seem a little extreme, but arent most religions? I f they are swarn to a life of celebacy than what would they need a penis for anyway? These kind of things make me ill. It seems the higher u are in a organization the more untouchable u become. and that in it self is a crime to humanity.

Corruption in the catholic church is nothing new. They have done some pretty outrageous stuff in the past as well. I actually wrote a research paper on the subject in college. I found out some pretty disturbing stuff. Now I know there are bound to be some catholics on here. Please don't take this as an isult or anything. I'm christian too and found it kinda disgusted myself. I think I have the paper still on my comp at home when i get there i'll put a link to download it so you guys can read it. till then

Celibacy is not the problem. Insanity is the problem. Yes this priest and some others may have been quite insane but that doesn't mean that the other thousands of priests have any of these molestation tendencies. Many insane people think of themselves as God's chosen so they will join the priesthood to carry out his fantasy but do things that are completely opposite of what God wants, this may have been the case witht his gentleman or he might have just been sick. In any case the Catholic church, however unfounded and hardheaded it may be, does not breed child molestors.

Is catholicism the only branch of christanity that forbids marriage and enforces rules of celibacy? or this pedohpilia not limited to the catholic church but other brances of christianity?

Of course it's not just the Catholic church, they just happen to be the biggest, most organized, menace.
