I wrote a little something myself... a hax0rs guide to telnet... hope you like it... explains a little bit of Telnet... could be of advantage to some admins you know.. nothing too much, but I think it explains quite well.

Let me add to this thread that I might write a guide on TCP/IP and go indepth on it, like UDP, IPng, some whois, traceroute, and finger explinations, list the layers and their principals... don't know yet though. I started writing it but abandoned the idea a few weeks ago, and then I wrote this. Oh well I'll do it again, right? :)

I'm already writing the guide. I'll post it in a new thread in a week or so.

I just thought the title of this thread was kinda funny:
Telnet Guide For Admins
I don't know any admins that use telnet, unless they are complete idiots. Not with SSH around. Telnet is as outdated for admins as the r commands (rlogin, rsh, etc) Can still use it for other things, but not admin purposes.

True, Most admins use SSH or even a nix based command shell. Telnet IS outdated unless used for most IIS or CISCO servers. Even then only a good 65% of them use it. Unless your looking to penetrate a small website or even a buisness one might work, telnet won't work. Telnet is good for hacking *nix systems and some websites. Not all though....

Yeah all the admins at work use SSH or just throw each other xterms. I can't say that telnet is used very much.
