    Deleting Items In.....?

    Does anyone here know how to delete items from the 'New' popup menu in Windows 2000?...
    I installed a game (Civilization 3) and it put an option for a Civ3ED Documents in the menu, and after I uninstalled the game it was still there..... I searched google and Ms's knowledge base to no avail..... Any help is appreciated..... A screenshot is included to show what im talking about

    Ok, I found the answer with the help of Juridian

    They are either stored in

    C:\WinNT\ShellNew for NT\2000
    or
    C:\windows\shellnew in other versions....

    They are also in the registry at

    hkey_current_user/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/explorer/discardable/postsetup/shellnew/

    hkey_users/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/explorer/discardable/postsetup/shellnew/

    Rewandythal: That only displays a couple of the ones that are in my New thing. I've looked and looked for ways to take off and modify this thing, but can't find crap. I've wondered this forever, Ac1d, so you're not alone. Please help us someone!

    It's been a while since I used that one, so I don't remember the specifics exactly...but it's a decent program otherwise, anyway.

    I wonder why it won't let you delete the reference from inside the menu, though...usually those are .lnk files, aren't they? Maybe search your drives for .lnk files and delete it that way?

    You can also do a search string in regedit. Then delete the offending key. You'll know it when you see it.

    I've deleted the key 1,000,000 times, but when I restart they always come back for some reason. Bleh, this sucks.
