Greetings All:

Well, now that the AntiPoints System seems to be burnt in well, and VERY reliable, I've started to ad some fun things for our valued members.

First up, Banner Ad Free Viewing!

Once the AntiPoints System has determined that you are a valuable member and significant contributor to the AntiOnline Community, it will shut off all banner ads while you're on the site.

Enjoy!

Does that message go away eventually? I find it more disturbing than the original banner ad themselves :)

Greetings:

Haha, I'm working on a way to better integrate that message into the site. That's just a temp solution until the "user benefits" panel is done. I wanted to implement this bonus feature ASAP.

Thanks JP. The message loads faster then the banner (especially on my connection), so I won't complain about it.

For some reason, I actually never see ads. I almost never do, it is rare when they appear.

JP, can you tell us what the 'point breaks' are to receive benefits?
e.g.
100 point you get this.
200 points you get that.
1000 points you get a lunch box.

Cheers:

Greetings All:

There will be no flat "AntiPoint Breakdowns". The algos. take into account things other than AntiPoint Status as well, such as how many tutorials you've posted, along with dozens of other things.

I try to be as fair as I can be, hehe.

Like someone said before, i hardly ever see ad's anyway, so this is cool for the people who get ad's a lot. Hopefully i will become that valuable member and have no ad's :)

Hopefully JP will add a feature that gets rid of the damn ``"Balance is key!" - Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid. `` notice.
I never see banners anyway (Proxomitron), but you can never be too careful...

Dome> Welcome back...kinda... I was wondering where you were.

Hey JP, why don't you write a tutorial. You could do an great one on PHP. And you could do a very interesting one on strange mathmatical algorithms dealing with antipoints, posts, threads, and tutorials.....

Oh well, can't say I didn't try....

How can I contribute to the site in a cheapass-not-having-actual-money way without giving banner views? Arrrgh.

Great Job JP! I think this feature will make people, again, want to earn more greenies. This is a great new feature!

Thank you Terr, that was my question as well. Not to be ungrateful but (there's always a but) I tried to click on a few ads everyonce in awhile in an attempt to generate some income. Is the revenue from the ads so minimal that it's not that big of a deal?

Thanks though! I'll admit to hating that flashing one that said I could be a winner..hehe...was always thankful I wasn't epileptic.

Sniff, sniff. I'll miss those condom adds flashing.......... Eh, heh, heh.

Anyway, another good feature. Thanks JP. Although. JP, I would like for you to do a PHP tut as well. That would be a good read. I would love to be able to tweak a site, and add features in the way it happens in AO.

Yeah I would love it as well. I want to add a antipoint type thing to my Vb. Aside from that, Im sure we would all like to see a PHP tut from JP.

Nice feature JP - actually noticed it before I noticed this thread. As some have already said, the ads often prevented this page from loading terribly fast (once I started blocked ads, however, the site got a lot faster - though I had turned that off again in-hopes of at least giving you some meager income through it).

For an added benefit, what about making a "skinnable" AO for Addicts and above, or something - make it easier to surf in a cube farm at work without the huge "AntiOnline" logo visible from the second story balcony... LOL (or, well, the alternative being a smaller logo, etc, or something)

I wanted to ask JP, what benefit's are being thought of for the valued members?

Well, I for one want an AO lunch box.

Seriously though. I would love to have an AO t-shirt or golf shirt. I would even be willing to pay for it. Just something cool to add to my computer doo dads collection......

I have to agree...that one was a little rough on the eyes.

In the better late than never category, seems like a pretty cool feature....thanks JP.
