Greetings All:

GET A ROOM!

Ever wanted to talk with two or three other people about a particular subject, without everyone else providing their unwanted 2 cents? Well, now you can!

The Private Conference Rooms have been designed to act like private threads where you and others that you invite can discuss a particular subject. Simply sign up for a room, and your "room key" will be sent to you and someone else. Once you register a room, you can send keys to others as well.

The rooms aren't feature rich, and are meant only for single, simple conversations between a small group of people.

Enjoy!

Greetings:

Please keep in mind, the Private Conference Rooms are NOT meant to be real-time, nor are they meant to be those "web based chatrooms". They are meant to act as private threads, where people can post, read other's posts, and reply, at their leasure.

thanks.

Just remember, once you post something, you can't delete it. The only people that can see it are those invited to your room, but you can't edit after you say it, so think before you speak.

Proud> They are not like irc. You have to click refresh to see if there is a new post.

Euh... I will be the only silly guy to say something against this "miraculous new feature" (I was really surprised viewing this on my account today) but I think that some people with a high level of knowledge could stop to participate in public threads.

It could be very bad for the quality of public forums.

KissCool we already have an antionline addict forum for that.

Yes but only members with a high number of posts under them can access it.
And, I don't know the situation, are there a lot of activity in it?

I ask this because an important part of activity into public forums is created by newbies. Personaly I frequently view senior members I have never seen before and I ask myself: "he was in hollidays/had a lot of work or he was here very often but only on the addict forum?"

Don't worry for me, it's only personals interogations :)

Now lets say, a few people make a room and *forget* to invite poor [WebCarnage] here,... can I still view the discussion, but not post? Or is this a thread that, unless chat about, I won't ever know?

And another thing - lets say you and two friends sign up for one of these private rooms. When somebody posts a new message here, will it appear on your home-page list?

Perhaps a user guide on this in the FAQ would be helpful...But I think this is a great idea, it means you can post threads for the right eyes to avoid getting flamed by misinterpreters, and also access a wider audience than a relay of PMs for max efficiency - tremendous! I love it! hehe

I posted a quick tutorial for the Conference Rooms, because I'm sure there will be plenty of questions and I'll add to it as more questions are asked. I thought it would be helpful to have a tutorial that people could go to as they earn the benefit of creating one. The tutorial can be found:
