Slackware Linux 8.1
Hi,
I just installed Slackware Linux 8.1..everything..went smoothly and then when I booted comp...went ok..and here is the problem..::
On the login name parts it says:
Login name:...
password :...
I typed my login name and my password, but always says "login incorrect".
I thought my problem is..I misstyped my login name and my password during installation and I tried to uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times already and I still have some problem:login incorrect.
any part went wrong???

Since I get that it is your own box..
do this..
Insert your slackware 8.1 CD and press enter to any question..
when the cd tells you: Now is the time to FDISK and INSTALL etc..
you type this:
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt or hda2 or hdb1 etc... wherever your linux is..
then
pico /mnt/etc/shadow
then remover the MD5 hashes of the passwords and save
[ctrl]+[O] (I believe)
after a reboot you should be passwordless...

LOL...Sweet Angel, you amaze me. You struggle to write a legible sentence yet you seem quite at home with RedHat and now you're running Slack.... Either you're some kind of mad genius or the right side of your brain is bigger than the left!
