LOL

One would think that someone would know better than to start downloadin programs at random.

Do you have a AV?

sometimes Jazbo programs can cause a file or another program to become faulty. it doesnot nesesarily mean it is a virus.....

can you get into safe mode?????

but however we can't rule it out....

so your saying that the virus was probably already there just waiting for something or another program to activate it. like anit virus software.

It is a possbility, but unlikely.

With the security downloads, people can upload files. or at least you use to be able to. So what happened, was someone renamed a virus as a antivirus.

Download AVG from that link I gave you and run it. Let us know what you find.

Program Name: avg.exe

File Size: 4.03 MB

Upload Date: 2000-01-01

Category: antivirus

Description: ICSA certified AntiVirus scanner integrated e-mail scanner

Downloads: 1201

Good grief this program is over 4 years old. Definately download the newer versions of AVG and then before you do anything else Update it.
If you are using Windows XP or ME, you can restore to an earlier date and then delete your restore files and get rid of it this way.

I changed your thread title since it's obvious by now that the file in AntiOnline's archive is virus-free...

Ah...multiple threads  , here's what I posted in your other thread.

I am thinking coincidence here, the file you said you downloaded here: http://www.antionline.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=257398 was the Antivirus product. AVG (avg.exe). Now Tedob1 downloaded the file right after you and scanned it. It was found to be virus free.

The fact that your system keeps restarting is a symptom of the Sasser worm making the rounds. You can find information on it HERE (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sasser.b.worm.html).

Have you applied the latest Microsoft patches? Are you running a firewall? If the answer is no to these questions, my guess is your infected with Sasser. Read the information in the link, it will tell you what to look for and how to clean up the mess.

Cheers:
