Well I don't run an Norton anymore, or any AV for that case, but when I did I only did an update when I installed and then everything downloaded and installed by itself via auto-updates (LIve Update), so you may be getting updated during the night and then checking when you already have the latest definitions.

Hi

Symantec (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download.html)

Why don't you Go and Check Out and see if your Defination Files are older than the Currently released one,......... every defination file has a verson number and release date..... .....And Until you sort out the Things with your Live Update in the mean time why not Manually Download the Virus Defination Files............Intelligent Updater as it is called by symantec........it's a selfexecuting exe.......which i sometime use to update my Defibations......

Remember: if your 1st years (free) subscription, has lapsed. Then the update will STILL D/L those parts of the system that are free. But, the A/V definitions will NOT be D/Led.

The message will say that ALL of your items are correct and up to date, but it will NOT include the AV.

shit, that must be it then, but i get no message saying my trial is done, haha i took a look onto the CD..."this version of Norton Internet Security inludes 180 days of free updates to Symantec's Internet security subcription service."

...gotta tell ya it sucks but now that i know ill have to get a new one tomorow :-D

This.....

The message will say that ALL of your items are correct and up to date, but it will NOT include the AV.

..... coupled with the fact that Norton's "renew your subscription" function can be a friggin' nightmare to find your way through and actually end up with an updated subscription is why I quit using it.

You used to be able to download virus def's from Norton manualy. Without needing to subscribe or when your subscription had run out.

Don't no if this is still available but it maybe worth looking at to give you more time to see if you want to stay with symantec or try another solution.

Jinx:

That only works if your subscription is up to date..... I've moved off Symantec for the most part and am using free AV's wherever I can.

90% cracks come with a free back door. Ok so i made the percentage up on the spot, but as you cant update to the latest virus deff's how are you going to no if that crack is safe to use.

Why not uninstall NAV2003 & reinstall it ?
I used to be able to get a year of free
virus defs that way.
(Worked w/ver 4.0, ver 5.0 & ver 7.0)
<Dunno about ver 9.0 (2003) >

or if you are in a real hitch and you need up-to-date defs to get you through a week till you get around to buying NAV you can always turn your clock back. NAV is directly connected to your pcs clock so turning it back allows you to get updates and the such until you get a chance to buy a new copy.

Hi

Guys Guys **Knock** ** Knock** wake up......Cracking Norton.....Changing System dates..Editing Registary:eek: .......oo Dear ............. this is a sheer example how lazy a Human can get lol j/k

Why is it bothereing you so much Most of the Other Features Of Norton are not Bound to the Yearly subscription.......It's Just like the One click Update feature of Norton is Gone ..Norton Still Provides updates..All you have to do is make a Few More Clicks..... in the form of "Intelligent Updater "

It's like you do a little more effort or pay i choose to do the few more clicks thingy :p rather pay...

and even if you crack the Norton 2004 the live update subscription will last for the year and then againg crack not to mention all those backdoors ..i know you were joking when you said this .......or are you not :(

And the Intelligent Updater is better then the Live Update in a few ways execpt more effort ....it provides quick and more timely protection than the Live Update.....Live Update Is only Updated weekly(wednesday or in case of emergency) and Intelligent Update is Updated Daily..giving you the extra protection........and it's free ....Free you hear me free....Rolflol Free.......

--Good Luck---
