Hello all!
While I was surfing and reading posts in the forum I found a lot of people being infected by worms. I was also infected several times, but not with one - with more than 4000 worms. So I would like to know is there anyone so stupid like me :)(i don't want to offence someone) to surf internet and to not care for worms.(The things now are changed: i'm always updating my antivirus program, and i feel better :))
And what about you guys? Were you infected with so many worms at once?

Danielsd,

Will you PLEASE make an old man happy?................

Go to the DiamondCS website and get RegistryProt
Go to BillP Studios site and get WinPatrol

Get WinSonar (Zantec, I think)

Maintain an up to date (Daily) AV
Get a firewall that you understand.................like ZoneAlarm set to maximum security

I have answered your poll, but I must say, none of the damn things got to run
:D

EDIT: By the way, when it comes to worms, "Bob Martins" is the product of choice ;)

Oh Nihil thank you for the advise, but I already took precaution.
I found 4000 worms on my PC while i was still using dial up once a week for 10min, and was thinking that nothing can happen to me. (I was wrong, of course)
Now i have antivirus program that i updates 3 times a week, Kerio personal firewall, and everything seems to be fine!
Bill Gates said: "Everyone must be punished, if he doesn't have an antivirus program and firewall on his PC" I absolutlu agree, and i was punished(from 4000 worms)
Friends, please read all antivirus, security threads in Antionline forum :)!!!

Hey,

Have you looked at/installed that which I suggested?

Or, was it just another useless finger exercise (typing) on my part?

Some of us actually wonder if it is worth a reply sometimes?
:)

Sorry, friend. I just visited the web sites but i didn't install something. As i wrote it is just statistic( I love statistic).
For the moment i feel free from worms and viruses, so i'm not wanting to isntall something :).
I think that i have 90% security with my antivirus program and firewall.
Sorry, that you did one useless finger exercise, i hope you will not have parkinson :).
Peace borther :)!

That is good for you axio!
Hey nihil do you know that 100% security is never possible. Perhaps when the AI is reality, but not now ;) !

Sorry Danielsd, But with what you have, an AV and a firewall, I would say you are only about 50% protected. Properly configured, a firewall is great, but it will not stopa user from comprimising their own system. A good AV will also not catch alot of the worms and trojans that a user might inflict on them selves.

Alot of malware will disable your firewall and AV as it loads, basically rendering them ineffective. The programs that nihil listed for you will catch most of these before they can do any damage.

And yes, you are right, there is no 100%, but you sure can get higher than 50%.

Do me a favor as well and go here:

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Antivirus won't protect squat. If your AV ever alerts you, then it means something else needs to be fixed. I'm kinda suprised this wasn't mentioned first. :/

Updated boxes are rarely touched, so go get updated, and turn on your auto notifications for them as well.

100 % protection is an oxymoron if you ask me, just like Military Intelligence. Getting on the Internet is like playing Russian roulette with a virtual revolver. One of these times the bullet is going to hit you. “That’s life”, we know the danger but take the risk anyway. What really gets me is that the information is out there and everyone knows about it, but yet they don’t bother to do anything about it, then they cry when there information is all over the Net.
