Images not showing up in broswers. Help!
Okay, I am lost. I have ran out of ideas..
Box: Dell Dim. L733r Win 98 SE w/ all criticle updates.
Browser: IE & Firefox
I have ran Ad-Aware & Spybot. It did have a ton of spy/adware. I removed all.
I have ran Hijack this and removed the things not needed.
I have cleaned out all startup files. I even did so through msconfig.
I ran Avast virus scan and removed all virii.
I have played around with IE's setting.
I have played around with Firefox's setting.
IE was updated during Winows updates.
I have ran PurgeIE
I have ran PurgeFox.
I have repaired the registry with TweakNow Reg. Cleaner.
I have went to Start, Run, and ran the SFC.
Everything about the computer seems to be working fine other than this. I have looked all over the net and have came up empty handed. I've includded a screen shot. I am about to go crazy. It seems like this would be so easy to fix... Grr!

With the greatest respect, might I suggest that you forgot to mention your problem?

Popup blockers and some installed toolbars might have options that prevent the pictures from displaying.
I'm posting a .png shot of my IE settings, perhaps you can mimic them on your system. Shutdown IE and reboot, just to be sure.
Hope this helps.
[Edit: Where did my attached file go?]

Ah!...................I did not spot that you stated your problem in the thread title...........sorry about that.........
It sounds like a file associations problem?............I guess that you can open images normally (ones that are saved on your HDD)?
ZT3000's advice is good, and you should try that..............what is sort of confusing me is that you imply that this is not just one browser?
That suggests to me that the problem is with your system settings rather than those of the individual browser.
If you search for .jpg, .bmp, and .gif files and try to open them, what does it try to use?
A total cheat solution (I hope):
http://www.irfanview.com/
Install it and allow it to look at all media...........
Cheers
