China ready to NUKE the U.S.
I don't know if General Zhu Chenghu is a nutcase or has just spent too much time in an opium den....but it's a scary thought all the same.
Read about it here.
And the world thinks that WE'RE agressive. Hey Zhu...do us all a favor and switch to decaf.....

Gen Zhu said his views did not represent official Chinese policy and he did not anticipate war with the US
Just exchange the name General Zhu Chenghu to Donald Rumsfeld.
Same rhetoric and posturing BS.
China depends quite heavily on exports to the US and it's allies for it's economy now. That more than anything else will stop anything serious kicking off.
This general is making noises to make himself noticed. This is probably internal party politics. The General maybe wants a new house to shut him up.

Further reflection reminds me that China is trying to secure drilling rights (oil) in Colorado, so one can assume that Denver IS NOT on the hit list...who wants glow-in-the-dark gasoline anyway?
you go try buy a low tech device that is not made in China?
Or a high tech device component that can't be made in Taiwan?

Sounds like he'd fit right in here at AO....

China doesn't even need to use nukes to take over the US. It's already bought a major part of IBM, it's been reverse-engineering "classified" military secrets delivered to it by Boeing (for which Boeing is under investigation), it's about to buy Unocal, and their trade surplus is bigger than the US's trade deficit. That's right, with the money western consumers gave to China (China's total surplus is around $700 billion), China could buy:
- All American oil companies (worth a total of $650 billion)
- All American airliners (worth "only" $4 billion)
- All American defense contractors

Negative and others are correct. China is really more of a world power than the US and THEY get a FREE ride when it comes to the United Nations and politics. However talking about nuking someone is NOT rational thought. So the rational argument that it would hurt them should be discounted. And China is always one step away from government shift from a psuedo democratic communist state to one of radical communism ala Lenin. AND it wouldn't take a major coup to acomplish that.

It goes both ways. We depend on them for these products.
If the US gets nuked, whats gonna happen?
US gonna stop using "made in china/taiwan" products?
Doubt it.
China's gonna lose major revenue, but someone has to give in first and I think it will be the US.

In any respect...China would not need to use nukes to take over the US...they could simply just send 250 million unarmed people over in boats and vote themselves in

Or they could all start jumping simultaneously
China levies import taxes of around 30% on American goods. The US levies import taxes of 5% on Chinese goods...
