I thought I would start a thread off about the upgrade where people can ask their questions and offer their opinions and suggestions about the upgrade. Rather than multiple threads about it, it may be easier for the admins and members to keep up to speed via the one thread?

It could even morph into a kind of FAQ for members who have not logged on yet! :D

I think maybe a direct link to the forums index should be placed on the main page, currently the only way I can see to get to the forums is via a post and then at the top, click the forum index link.

It took me a while to work out how to get back to the main page from the forums too, so maybe an obvious link could be placed on the forum index? (I know the big AO graphic is hard to miss, but it is not obvious as a clicky)

Why didn't they upgrade to vBulletin 3.6.2?

I've not been around here much as of late so maybe I missed something, but with this new upgrade did AntiPoints go bye-bye?

The new layout/forum isn't horrible, it's just taking some getting used to - two fold for me, I've not been on AO in a while plus it's a new layout so it's taking some time to get readjusted to things... But I'll manage.. :)

EDIT: Is there a way that I can view all unanswered posts - with this new layout, it's a bit tougher to see all the new discussions. Maybe I just missed it as well, but is there a 'mark all forums' read function as well?

New posts is up top, the main navbar, and mark forums read is at bottom of the main page.

Took me a minute also, till I realized that on some parts of the forum if you click the blue folder next to "AntiOnline Forums" that takes you to the main page, I haven't figured out the exact logic behind it though, since in other sections it either refreshes the page or goes to a previous page in the thread.

Clicking the header image will return you to the main page.

I think it would be cool if there was a new site logo thingy.
I mean, it's pretty good, but since the owners have upgraded everything to be new and upto date with today's software etc etc.
Then i think it's time to have a flashy new site logo to go with the new look. :)

Maybe do what they organised with the old banner, have a competition for members only and see who can come up with a new site logo.

then after a set date, maybe setup a page or something with all the new logo's that have been created, and then we have a poll type thread and we vote for our favourite logo, and the winner recieves a gift from the AO Store, or something..

anyhow just thought i'd throw this idea up into the air.

cheers

Is it possible to view the "reputation" that each post has been given?
I might like to see this to see if anyone has been given pos or neg cred.

I tend to only assign if nobody else has. If someone is being an a$$, how can I tell if they've already been assigned? It was nice before because I wouldn't neg some n00b if they were already negged. Don't want to ban people right away...

I just went to post a new tutorial and got:

The text that you have entered is too long (23840 characters). Please shorten it to 10000 characters long.

ermmm....surely this has to be altered in the tutorial sections at least.....I'm not going to post a 1/3 of a tutorial......... :D

If it can't be altered it is going to have a massive negative impact on the tutorial sections.

Okey Dokey, thanks!

//sorry one more - is there a problem with the email notifications at all, I don't seem to receive any emals from subscribed threads and when I get PM's. My email address is correct in my CP - and I got the mass email sent the other day with no probs.

This may have been asked in another thread so apologies if it has.

Thanks.

Check your subscriptions and be sure what the email setting is. If it says instant email notif. then let me know. Also the PM setting is in your userCP, options

They've also gone back to being anonymous. So I've noticed that some users are back to using it as a childish way to say things like "You suck" etc...

Urgh! Is there anyway to make the code 'boxes' longer? Or the whole post, there is a huge white strip down the left hand side...

Maybe have it cut in under the user name / avatar etc?

http://antionline.com/showthread.php?p=912237#post912237

It doesn't make for 'easy' reading if you know what I mean?

JPnyc
October 23rd, 2006, 06:13 PM
Depends how you format the code. If you keep making new lines, the box gets longer. It will not get wider but add a scroll bar.

Me again! All my setting are checked to send me an email, and it is also set for instant email notification, but I have still had no emails at all from and subscribed threads, or received PM's.

I have checked all my user options but can't find anymore that look as though they should be checked....

Can ya help? :D

thanks!

Check the current subscribed threads. Changes you make to the subscription default will only affect NEW threads you subscribe to, not those already subscribed to.
