Since there are so many members of the forum from outside the United States, I have changed the date format to be less confusing for our non-US members.

From what to what?

From a numerical format to a mixed numerical/lingual one. Just check some of the older posts and you'll see

Could we do away with the 'yesterday', 'today' tags?...give me exact dates and times. I would be comfortable with 7/Sept/07 0X:15:00 GMT (and localize the timestamps when possible).

Ah, yes.. 11-24-07 is easy to spot.. 3-5-07 is a little more difficult ;)

I feel at home now :D

Good idea though.

Now if you can just set up word filters for Sidewalk, Hood, Trunk, Drapes and Trash, and set it to Pavement, Bonnet, Boot, Curtains and Rubbish respectivley......... :)

Hi JPnyc,

I think that it looks better. OK over here the standard would be "12th. September 2007", but it is just fine with the month first. :)

As most people on the forum are in IT, or some sort of enterprise they probably are familiar with different date formats........... Perhaps the Japanese one would throw them slightly? :D Although it complies with ISO8601 (YYYY-MM-DD)

As a general rule you would expect a site to follow the conventions of its host or target country?

I do agree with Ouroboros about the "yesterday" and "today". Given the international time zones this could well be confusing? particularly as we are an American hosted site but use GMT or British Summer Time (BST)

I still think that the new format looks better :D

Thanks, nih. In our case we have to go with the conventions of the host country because we only have one of those, and there's no limit to the number of target countries. I think it's less confusing also .

As far as the yesterday and today goes, it goes by the time zone you set, so it will not be uniform for everyone, it will conform to your time zone.

Nice work Jp.. :)

It's always nice to notice the small changes that are always taking place on good old AntiOnline.

Ah!

As far as the yesterday and today goes, it goes by the time zone you set, so it will not be uniform for everyone, it will conform to your time zone.

So all people have to do is to go into their User CP and make sure that they have their time zone set correctly?

That does seem to make sense, because right now it is "today" here but "tomorrow" in Australia. This way we both see it correctly as "today"

Cunning these foreigners........................ :D

yep, that's all that's required. Oh, and the forum software is written by compatriots of yours, not us Yanks.
