Play nice now scarlett, JP's already scared enough of his visitors away, he doesn't need you doing it as well.

Anyways congrats on the job info, hope it goes well :)

/me notes that for every ten registered members there isn't even 1 post.... (very very subtle Freakin hint)

Greetings:

No doubt the lack of interaction has a lot to do with how gawd damn slow the site has been.

I've been working away optimizing code and the databases. Slowly but surely things are starting to speed up.

Once everthing gets optimized, life will once again get better....

I have yet to see any forum that starts off with a whooping load of posts/posters.

This isn't a new forum. Its a new manifestation of the old one. If you were a member then, you would know that in the old forum......even stupid topics had 100+ posts.

:spank: ROFLMAO...."who's your daddy?"

:drink: "Info at his new job."

The friggin smilies.............heh

I do know that, and I also know that the site has been down for quite a while now....

Somehow I knew that was gonna be the reply to my post.

Well....atleast it wasn't a total surprise then. heh

The site hasn't been down(relatively speaking of course).

JP : Lack of interaction from site speed????? that has something to do with it.

More or less I would say it has to do with :
design.....not that its bad, it just isn't as functional as the old one.

size.....the new site is a lot bigger than the old one......some people are getting lost I think. It isn't as straight forward as the other one either.

features.....more bells and whistles to sort through make it harder to have the same conversations.

functionality......This reminds me of a few Microsoft products......Released before they were ready, and the developers had to spend all of their time fixing the product amid chaos and complaining consumers.

Here is the biggy( you know this one) NO IRC. While there wasn't a channel for quite some time, once it was injected into the AO site, it was an instant hit. We all had the chance to talk to one another in real time, learn more about each other, discuss interesting topics......basically interact. This bolstered the content of the forum too(for the most part)

Anyway...I'm not complaining...just throwing in my 2 rubels.

:smokes: I do luv the smilies.

Hogfly you got it....The navigation is poop, you have to got down like 3 subtopics before getting any meat.

Chris

yeah I agree with quad (woa, that sounds wierd) there's not much point in having a separate section for miscellaneous 'chit chat' when there's only one forum in it.

by the way, the email notification is actually kinda neat, I wouldn't be checking it at all otherwise :)

I'll have to agree too, the navigation takes abit too long... and can anyone tell me where the restrooms are?

If you actually wanted to learn something about this "industry" you would agree with me alot more...

What this site needs is more women. When it comes down to it, if there were more women, there'd be more men.

But chicks are spending their time constructively, i guess. Obviously there are better places to be. Now if only someone would tell me where they are....

And one other thing. i hate this new look. it's depressing. it takes too much effort to actually get anywhere.

And a question: Do you guys have subway?

Mmm.. SUB-waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

Greetings All:

WELL NOW! Heh, I think I FINALLY came up with a layout for these forums which should make everyone happy :D

I, personally, think they're a lot easier to navigate now. Sooo, we shall see!

Getting better, could always make it even better by changing the categories to those that were suggested earlier, but at least it's on the right track.

I haven't been here very long so i don't know what it use to be like but i do agree about the fact that you have to go through 3 sub levels befor you can even get to posts, let alone good ones.
If you guys want a new site to check out you can go to www.happyhacker.org. its not a communities or anything like this site but it does have some cool gtmhh and when it's uodated the new stuff is usualy prety cool.
Might as well check it out :)
