Hello..I'm kind of new to this, but I have question and I hope this is the kind of thing you can help me with. I want to know how I can find out if my boyfriend has installed something on my computer that tracks my movements. Perhaps a program that actually sends info to his pc. He is very knowledgable about these things and is very into hacking, cracking and spying. Any info would be much appreciated. Kitty

Your boyfriend? rotflmao

Dump the guy: either he's really tracking you, and then he's no good; either he's not doing it, and then you'll need to be hospitalised for paranoia.

BTW: maybe he implanted a GPS-device in your body while you were sleeping...that should really do the tracking...
And if he really is tracking your every move, he'll probably also know you asked those questions.

(I'm not being very helpful, am I?)

Greetings:

Well, now that you've been subjected to the obligatory "AntiOnline Flame", how about I actually provide some useful information?

Check out this program:

http://www.spycop.com/

If he stuck something on your computer, this will probably find it.

Hope that helps! :D

OK, I just wanna say if your bf is using something to track your movements kick his ass to the curb. He's a jackass.:kissass:

That said the simplest solution is to start visiting really twisted porn sites. Like ohhhhh... say ....simese twins pissing on farm animals. And then maybe if you're lucky he has a keylogger installed. Then it should be really funny if you start visiting chat rooms, lesbien ones should do the trick. Then have some really uhh...intimate conversations.
And if he is tracking you, you can bet that he'll want to discuss your new intrests. During that discussion you can bring up his intrests like violating your privacy.splat

Yeah!!! Make him really love the thing. If possible make him download some pict., have him send them to other suckers and then charge him with porn distribution. HA

if your on Windows you can check the startup folder to see what apps are starting automaticly, also look at the win.ini and system.ini for items in the run= line
hit ctrl + alt + del to see what programs are in memory. Check the link JP posted.
Finally if you really suspect he's doing this dump the looser, because wether he is or not you either don't trust him "OR" your feeling guilty about something your doing that you don't want him to know about and you should move on.

With easy tools like Sub7 around and chatting programs like ICQ, AIM, and such, it is easy for trojans to spread like wildfire among groups of "friends". From my experiences, when someone who doesn't know much about computers says things like "very into hacking, cracking and spying" about someone else, the person is probably just using things like Sub7. Best thing is to keep your antivirus updated, don't let anyone touch your computer if you aren't around, and get a firewall (soft or preferably hardware). Above all, be suspicious of anything and everything no matter where it comes from.

It's a dangerous web out there...

Why Sabe, didn't you see me on realdirtyho.com last week? I'm the one with the big plastic boobs and the tan lines, and I have on a pair of red high heels. I was with the blond and the mountain goat. Why didn't you see me you told me you go there all the time.:lildevil:

Most of you should be ashamed of yourselves posting the crap you did. Someone asks for help with a valid question that is a common problem and you act like animals. Shame on you! As for the valid responses, good for you.

Lev-Arris: I see somebody has been playing too much Privateer 2 :D (Unless my memory is faulty, in which case, never mind.)

Kittycat: I'd suggest you check out The Cleaner (http://moosoft.com/). It's a bit of money to BUY, but you can use the evaluation version to check your system for a lot of possible nasties that could've gotten on there.

...really. just where do you get your information? I don't know of anyone else who has this problem so it can't be that common. And yes we're really ashamed, :flip: really.

I am amazed. When the lights are turned on the cockroaches don't run from this room!

:fu:

Just because you don't know anyone with this problem doesn't mean that there isn't anyone with a similar issue. It just means that you have a very limited social life!

first i dont trust anti-virus because if a hacker really wanted to he could obtain a unpacked server and trim it then pack it making it undetectible. Another thing you would want to do is check for the places trojans will startup here is a link where yo can find aout start methods - http://www.tlsecurity.net/auto.html - (by the way trojans dont always show up in ctrl+alt+del they can hide in theads now!) - Another KEY THING TO DO IS GET A FIREWALL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would recommend zonealarm for beginers. Good Luck

Here is a previous post I did for a thread on trojans; some of the information should help you out.

Ways to Help Protect your Comp from Trojans and Etc:

1. Invest in a good virus scanner ( I recommend Norton, but someone might know a better one)
2. Don't download stuff you dont need, also included in this rule is dont open email attachments from people you don't know.
3. Check OS startup entries: (Registry, AutoExec, Startup Folder)
As mentioned you can use Sysedit, MsConfig, Regedit, etc

Here are a few places to look for suspious entries:

Places to look in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
entVersion\Run

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
entVersion\RunOnce

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
entVersion\RunServices

Places to look in the Win.INI:
"load="
"run="
normally these are left empty

Note: Check the AutoExec.bat for odd entries

Also as mentioned it prolly wouldnt be a bad idea to format your drive.

Good Luck I hope this helps alittle!

If you don't feel comfortable with using regedit, sysedit or msconfig then you might wanna try JP' s link.

Also: Dump that boyfriend, what a control freak

Galdron

Listen up dorks, Its a legitamate Question, Mabe the guy is some sort of jelous control freak. In that case dump his silly ass!!! But on a more serious note.

It is quite possible that he installed some sort of a key logger, Which he would have to have acess to your PC to even use, Unless he has Sub 7, or Various other Trojans. I recommend TDS3 which can be found in a trial version at www.wilders.org, It is a Pro tool with a very user friendly interface.

Guys dont flame her for having bad taste in men!!!!!

Well if you can get past most of the worthless posts sometimes there is useful information on here.

Why don't you ask him? What are you worried that he might see?

I would first Follow JP's advice then just for fun search through the most perverted stuff you can find. If he starts introducing some really weird stuff you know he is spying. I would get one of your online friends to help you. Send some stuff saying how bad you want to get another girl into bed with your boyfriend. If anything would entice a man that would be it.

Good Luck and just ignore 95% of the posts on AO and you will be fine.

hi kittycat let me first of all make this plain simple, for you to minimise your anonymity on the web you have to watch where you go and erase it as you go, in other words take two step and erase the first step, i can tell you not the kinda person that can do that, so what will be my advice is (1) try to be by your computer when he is always around and using your computer because 70% of the spywares cannot remotely send info except for trojans etc which i suggest you should get the latest virus update and scan regulary (2) get a spyware tracker. programs that detect spywares softwares (optout, spycop, and spychecker (recommended from www.spyware.com) )

Just some advice, be very careful in the future when you start using insults Like "noob" and "scrpit kiddie", you have no idea who you might be saying it to. Oh i know your response, "bring it on" or some silly childish trash talk. Just stay out of my life, I am not here to fight w PPL.

Another thing to try is msconfig. It has all programs that are running at start-up in one nice little row. You can disable them or remove them, its a little easier than editing the registry (something newbies should stay away from untill they read more on it) but that doesnt mean to actually stay completely away from it. The registry has great power, you can even make it so your (boyfriend) cant make any changes to your computer (of course iether can you untill you change the registry settings) to really mess with him put linux on your computer with windows and only load linux when he is around. that will really mess with him.

im only new at this, but anyway,

1) install a good anti-virus program.
2) how about TWEAKUI, its on the windows95 install disk.
there is a control tab there (called paranoia) that clears recent documents, web history etc.
3) turn off 'history' on icq,
if the boyfriend is 'techo' with hacking etc, he should have his own Cputer.. dont let him at yours.
Best of luck !!!

install a firewall ,,

what about doing a "find file" for modified files in the past (say) 24 hours. look for anything unusual ???

I hope this helps,
im sure the experts on this site will give you better info. or let me
know if im talking out of my ass,, (probably am :-)
