I prefer GNOME because it LOOKS better than KDE. They are functionally the same. They are both bloatware, but I have the processing power and RAM, so why not enjoy it. At least they are bloatware that doesn't crash all the time (like some well known MS products) On my laptop, I prefer to use WindowMaker, or IceWM as they have a MUCH smaller footprint, and I only use X at all on it to test my web pages with Netscape. I use my laptop to do my web development at work. Just my two cents.
