I actually just saw this thread. Is is kinda late but I figured I'd chime in.
Its kind of crazy that 6 years ago I moved up to Jax with my parents who have lived in FL for 26 years (without a direct hit from a Category 1 or above storm). 2 months ago they moved back to my hometown, Ft. Myers. Their house is about 9 miles from the gulf, and 0.5 from the river (right on the McGregor corridor for anybody who knows the area). They sustained some shingles being torn off, a few trees in their pool, a few more in their front yard, and a whole lot of random **** laying around their property. It is a wild scene down there apparently. Check out < a href="http://www.news-press.com">the local paper</a> for some pics of the area.
My thoughts are with those who have been impacted.
