I live in a townhome community, in my neighborhood alone there are about 10 wide open wireless networks, all broadcasting their SSID, and most are the default (linksys, belkin54g, etc.). Using a stumbler, I can pretty much nail down whose townhome has the open connection. I have often been tempted to knock on their door and offer my services as a wireless network security consultant. I would configure the access point and clients to use encryption, MAC address filtering, and set the SSID to nonbroadcast. How much should I charge? It would take about an hour to set up. Say around $200?
