This happened when i was living with my mother. She has SBC Yahoo dsl. The modem they provided to use stopped working about a month after installation, and i knew it was the modem because it wouldn't even power up at all. Well i go ahead and call the help desk for her expecting an easy "hey my modem is broke" "ok we will send a new one" conversation. Well i told em my modem was broke and get asked what makes me think that. I explain the whole no power thing, and even told them that i had swapped in a spare pwoer supply/cord i hade to make sure it wasn't just that. Well after about 45 minutes of the techy trying to talk tio the modem, having me try and talk to the modem, and a slew of other bs i get asked how old the house is. I'm like wtf does that have to do with anything and get a 5 minute explination on how older houses have older wireing that is not always condusive to good connectivity, and thats when i lost it. after about 2~3 minutes of me yelling and swearing at the guy i get 30 seconds of silence and then hear "Ok well it looks like you have a faulty modem. We will send out a tech to install a new one. When is the best time for you?". Sometimes i honestly think these people have no idea what business they are in.
