1) This is not a site about hacking.
Yes, it's called Hacker Network. Yes, there are some people here who know a lot about computers. Yes, my basement smells strangely today.
HOWEVER - this does not necessarily mean that we want to immediately answer all the clever queries of people we don't know, especially when most of their questions could be answered by pumping some words into a search engine like Google.
Try looking for the answers first, and if you still decide to ask a question of the infinitely wise people here, make it a smart one, or at least a 'not-mind-numbingly-stupid' one.
2) Can you read? Good. Do it.
Read through some old posts and get a feel for the forum. It doesn't take that long, and it might help you to understand the method behind the madness (ie. 'get' the in-jokes)
3) For the love of god, make an entertaining newbie post.
Not many people can do this. I didn't , for one. At any rate, if you can't come up with anything more interesting than Name, Rank and Serial Number, at least try to avoid telling us that you're new. We know.
Also, starting newbie threads with "Yo" in the title is an almost guaranteed chance of failure. Not quite, but almost.
4) Proper English, please.
While we make an exception for those of you who don't have English as a first language, we do NOT like 1337 speak. Those of you who write messages like retards will be treated like retards.
Proper punctuation and spelling are also looked at with exceedingly drippy amounts of favour. I don't want to have to grab a Rosetta Stone of Stupid just to decipher what you're trying to say.
5) Just don't be an idiot.
See above.
6) The administrator, the mods, and some of the regulars are exempt from rules 4) and 5).
Life isn't fair, and neither are we.
