Tell the owner of the card to cancel the card if its stolen. Cancel the service you give and refund the money (If however you sell goods then this is abit more tricky and i would contact the company the credit card belongs to however it may be to late and it IS your responsability the verify legitimate use in your business) Report it to the proper agency's along with any logs you may have that could aid them.
Edit: The problem with tracing them yourself is you cant actully do anything if you manage to find them. Even if you trace them and hand the information to the police they would have to trace back themselves before they would start gathering "proof" about it so theres very little point.
Edit: Sorry Tiger i completely missed your post, my bad :(

In the US you call the FBI, The local police in my area are only smart enough to give you a traffic ticket. Do not ask the locals to investagate anything more than that. The NY State Police
are also well equiped to investagate e-crimes and will work with the FBI on that.
It all depends what country you are in and what was done.

It would appear that the owner of the card already knows it is stolen and has most likely already taken the necessary precautions.
And rarely does negative publicity arise out of someone stealing someone's credit card and using it on your site. If your site was hacked and your database of information including credit cards was released to people without the proper authorization....that would be an entirely different story.
Most major card providers have programs to limit credit card fraud to acceptable percentages. You might want to look into such programs.
