I am sorry to sound rude, but it doesn't seem like you have any first hand experience in the security field. The people out there who plug their name onto websites are not curious, they are malicious. Those who are curious are there to learn, period. People who tag their name onto source code for the parts they created, are proud. Not a thing wrong with being proud. Don't think Linus got his name by staying anonymous.Quote:

And you'll hear about curiousity, exploration, & all that jazz. Haha... Yeah I guess thats why close to 96% of these guys tag they're name onto everything they can get their hands on... whether it be a defaced site, source comments, & stuff.
Yes, we exist, and no it is not as far fetched as you make it seem. As you may have noticed from my own first post on this thread, I will not call myself a hacker because it is a term one can not just give themselves, but I recognize my actions for what they are, and what they will be in the future. The title "hacker" once was a name bestowed/given by someone much better than you, and thus recognizes your potiential. I understand it is no longer like that. I understand maybe the media has given a twisted view of the computer world, confusing scripties with hackers.
I understand you are speaking about the majority of the online kiddies doing it because it is cool, but don't forget that there is still a very strong following of the origonal, old school, grey hat-hackers who are still there for the curiosity and knowledge of it.
