Mr flagwaving BillyJoeBob, to completely dismiss someone because they don´t live in your country is just plain dumb. Now run along and read up.

As a newbie to this forum, and the world of computers in general...I hesitate to post a reply with all the flaming going on...please, don't hurt me.

I would like to make a couple of points.

I felt that pretty much summed it up.

Second, I would like to point out that pretty much every hacking tutorial and FAQ that I've read states somewhere "Leave government systems alone". Perhaps the government should take a minute to read the information on hackers that is out there...and stop passing judgement on an entire group of people based on a stereotypical definition!!!


I would also like to draw your attention to a link at the bottom of the article titled "US hackers could face life sentences" ( http://www.vnunet.com/News/1129590 )

We barely have the facilities and resources to hold the people that truly deserve to be there...do we really need (or want) to spend our tax dollars to eliminate the curious and the smart people from society? (talk about damaging the gene pool!!!)

Hrm.. after filtering through the flames, insults, and ignorant post I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in here also. I wouldn't be suprised if the US did bomb citizens of their own country. They already send a massive squad of highly trained agents armed with M16s, bullet proof armor, and all kinds of other sh*t, just to arrest a hacker today. Is all that force really necessary? Do they have to break the door down every time they make an arrest? Most people have door bells, why can't they just use it or knock? I think that the people they were aiming at were foreign countries that are intentionally training 'cyber terrorist' to cause problems.

Those are the countries that the article is refering to but I still wouldn't put it past the US to do the same thing to it's own citizens..

I can see the governments point here somewhat. No I don't think they are going to program a cruise missle to fly down Broadway hang a left at the McDonald's, then knock on the front door of Joe's Hackers house and ask to borow a cup of sugar. Those missles are millions of dollars each, as are any other "Bombs" that the US uses.

Although I think that if people were killed by some government, hacker, cracker, script kiddie, whatever.. by messing up say... the FAA's Airport computers and causing airborne chaos and crashes, etc..., then I think the government (any government) should have full right to respond in whatever way they wish, within reason. Don't just hit "Launch" at some silo compound for a single person. But if it was some base in Afganistan or Iraq that houses a bunch of crackers, and they were found to be at fault, then by all means hit "Launch".

Just my thoughts. :)

I've read a statistic and it said that most of attack on US government and military computer systems come from such hated countries like Pakistan, India, Korea, and such, many European countries and (very proud of it) Russia(especially). Bomb us? Will they have enough brains to bomb the whole world? Wouldn't this bring us nowhere?!!

Do you mind posting where you got these statistics? Indeed most of these attacks may have came from those countries but I agree that it wouldn't be wise to bomb all of them at once for their crimes. It wouldn't bring us anywhere but that dosen't mean that they won't do it. Especiall since some of those countries take some sort of 'pride' in these computer crimes against the US.

no matter what you do (bomb) or otherwise there will always be the threat of crackers. Nothing you can do. I really dont think that the USA would really go and bomb computer hackers, but hey its the USA anything is possible
