I have for about 10 years
I've been doing it for just under 2.5 years, but I only have a job in computers during the summer. Damn high school gets in the way.;)
Im currently in my 3rd Year of college and I've been working with computers for about 9 or 10 years. . . The 1st computer I ever had was a Commador 64. . . I think they still rock. . . lmao. . .
i have been working with computers for six years(since I was 11) and high school really does get in the way, but you learn a lot of packet sniffing and dns stuff in it.
Well, let's see. Since my first Texas Instruments TI99/4a. LMAO
I guess that was about 1982 or so. (Wow, has it really been 20 years?)
That was a mean machine running a 16 bit processor at a blazing 3MHz. I had the Peripherial Expansion Box (PEB) with a whopping 64K of RAM. Had to load programs from a cassette deck (untill I got the FDD).
I actually used this puter when I started my first business. It ran Microsoft MulltiPlan (a spreadsheet) from a plug-in ROM module. I used it for basic sales and finance figures.
Had a great Dot-Matrix printer attached and a 300 baud modem.
Damn, seems like just yesterday.
well see... Been working on them since I was 13 and am 18 now... Rather tired *grabs some caffine pills from yours truely (think geek)* but if my math is right... 5 years. :)
its been approx. 7 years , now its been a part of my life i start my PC first in the morning then i do other work.
--> I too fondly remember the TI-99/4A, my first computer, back in about 1982-1983. Quite a fun thing, to take about 5 minutes to load a 24K program in TI BASIC from that tape deck. Remember the plug in speech synthesizer? That was the ****. Before that, I learned on the TRaSh-80s from Radio Shack at school, running a hefty 4K of RAM, running ten-line programs on a fuzzy CRT, all in one easy-to-carry 30 lb. plastic-encapsulated beast. Those indeed were the days...
--> From the loss of the TI-99/4A at a yard sale in 1989, it hasn't been until one month ago that i have owned a computer. I guess it's been about a year since i first got online, through my local library "insta-crash" terminals. My how things have changed!
--> I don't "work" on a computer currently--never have--but hope to make a living someday soon. I'm learning quickly though, and would make a good addition to your company real soon-like! [shameless plug of nascent talent]
am the youngest in this class! only 5 months old... pl. don't ask me how much i know:o ...
am still learning.....:p
Longer than I can remember.
I remember my first connection to the Net was through a dumb terminal and a modem. Typing the AT commands manually. Cranking up PINE for mail. WWW was still a pipe dream ( hehe I remember when HTML was introduced).
Ah, the good ole days.

After that GWBASIC.
Than i learn C, Assembly language , JAVA , and now im working learning other fields like networking
In hacking its been 3 -4 yrs.
I start using computer (it was a schneider CPC-464, which had virtually no success in US) when I was 13, which means i'm in computer for nearly 14 years.
My first access to the internet was with a TN-3270 emulation connected to a S370 mainframe ... kind of a dinausorus! Not completly extinct, but in good way!
I also made several little systems based on 8051 or TI's DSP.

but i can say that it is a part of my body....believe me....i cannot stay..without it now.....
i can say that computer is my heart and internet is the blood flowing inside....hahahhahaha......

I'm 16 now and I've been using computers about the same amount of years... :-) One of my first experiences (or so I've been told and I've seen the evidences 'cause we still have got them.. :) ) is that I broke a keyboard of an Intel 80068-computer... The keyboard was attached to the monitor (something like 8" orange-and-black) which was attached to the main unit, so it was kinda laptop... :-) Guess it weights like 15 kgs... :-)Quote:

First experience with the 'net was around '94, it think. It was a BBS, connected through a 2400bbs modem.. :P "ATDTxxxxxxx", "ATH", ...
Every other stuff just came naturally... Began programming with QBasic, now I'm kinda good at it and in Visual Basic.

In 1983 after getting out of the navy, where I used a pneumatic analog control system on Steam generating equipment, I promptly purchased the latest and greatest C-64, lol.
I have continued to interact with computers to control power plants, but have not used them at home, until about a year and a half ago. They are now a part of my daily life and I am in the process of learning perl and java.:D
My mom got a C64 sometime in the mid 80's. I played with it a little, but didn't learn a whole lot from it. I started seriously learning about computers in high school in 94. I'm in college for a BS degree in computer science, and have had jobs working with computers since 99. I did contract work for Wal-Mart Home Office doing network trouble shooting on the networks at each Wal-Mart and Sam's Club. Now I do web design and work at Desktop Support Services on campus.
Six years. My intro to the computer world was way back in 3rd grade..I hate typing..I have been into it heavily since about '97 but started doing the whole security thing in late 96. It was interesting to see firewalls really start to be implemented, properly anyway...
It went from me being able to cruise around the back of virtually any network under a guest account to not being even able to connect to 9 out of 10 systems just a few months later. That upset me, ahh but challenges can be healthy..

You know c and assembler and you think dos is a language? you're a constant source of amusement - keep it up!
I started with a Macintosh Performa 637CD, in 1995. Now I have more computers that I know what to do with.
7 years and growing strong.:)

ive been using comuters for bout 10-11 years the first computer had a tape drive and then i moved onto a atari and a c64 ithen a 2cx or somthing like that from apple
now i have about 4 pc sitting in the garage with 4 macs around
i started q basic when i was 12 then moved onto pascal then c/C++ and now java
im fairly heavely into html and javascript and flash 5
and looking for a computer related job in australia

Personally, I have been using a computer since I was a child when my that my father bought (second hand mind you) the very first IBM PC ever produced. That makes me a 16 year vet on PC's and MSDOS.
From there, programs in Basic. GOTO ROCKS! I've been programming since I was 12 (that makes it 8 years now).
I'm currently in my third year in a BEng program, going for my Computer Engineering degree (Systems Specialization - GO MC68HC11!) at university.
I am NOT a hacker/cracker but I AM a developer concerned with security.
