Which do you think is better? Which do you use more often? Which will take over the BATTLE OF THE BROWSERS! Which can have the most plug-ins? When will I shut up? You tell me...
i prefer IE coz Netscape always gives the that claustraphobic feeling..
Let's be honest. Who really *needs* plugins? The only ones I really have are flash/shockwave, and java.
I say go with Opera. I migrated to it after IE became buggy and unstable on my system, and the only problems I've had with it are the fact that is doesn't seem to render the <body topmargin="" leftmargin=""> properties of my own page. Go figure.
But it comes with a ton of useful features, and it isn't the same kind of bloat-ware that IE and netscape seem to have become. That is, it doesn't tangle up with your system, the cache and cookie stuff is all nice and easy, no weird folders, and it has a lot of time-savers like a hotkey for plugins/java/javascript/popup denial, etc.
And did I mention that it isn't owned (yet? bawling) by MS or AOL/Time Warner.
And it works on many different OSes.
In my experience, IE is better. Some bad page writing sometimes crashes the browser instead of a debug script popping up, but it happens three times more in Netscape. However, if IE breaks, the entire computer is toast.
The newest version of Netscape (6.2) is slower than previous versions. I have always prefered IE anyways though.
i used to be evenly split on the issue.... one way or the other, it didn't matter to me. i liked the style of ie better, but i preferred netscapes engine. (i also like NeoPlanet, which used the ie engine) but now.... netscape 6.2 is the worst ever. slower... the engine is ass backwards... just all around bad.... oh well...
(de)evolution
i choose.... Kerburos. -=RH7.2=-
IE 6
So, IE crashes, NS6 is SOOOOO slow, why not try mozilla before netscape get too it, you might find you like it. The feature set is frozen now ready for a 1.0 release and it will take NS plugins (and even IE ones if you buy crossover from codeweavers). I have used mozilla since 0.7 and it's only been improving but I think that IE does have it's own advantages, itdoes suport VB scripts. Theres just too many browsers about, maybe I'll just go back to using lynx!
I prefer IE for Windows because it's mroe integrated and it seems faster. However, Linux is a different story altogether... I use Netscape 4.6 on Linux (I dont intend to upgrade to NS6... i tried it and it is unbelievably slow!)
I don't believe one should limit themselves to one.. so I have IE 6, Opera 5 and Netscape 6.1 installed.. I mainly use IE, but if a page I want to view doesn't render properly, I switch through until I get one of the browsers to render it...
I would say that I like them in the order they are listed.. IE is quick for me, and relatively stable...
Opera isn't as fast, but it hasn't crashed yet.. and I like that in a browser... who wants to have to do the whole following the path of visited links when their browsers crashes..
Netscape.. Slow, and the interface... uggghhhhhh.. thankfully you can change the theme for it and revert to a classic interface, and then its not so bad....
IE6
Netscape. It was there a lot before IE which Microsoft then distributed with quite an illegal way. Netscape doesn't have dozens of security holes. Netscape's bookmark-system is much better than IE's, only the one html-file instead of thousands of small *.url -files. Netscape is also skinnable & can be removed, unlike IE... If someone thinks the 6.x version is slow, he can use 4.75, which is still a very good browser.
-ZeroOne
*I* think Netscape 6 is slow... and I do use 4.something
I think i use 4.6 but it might be 4.7, I can't be bothered to check the version number.
IE6 rules (Litterally)
Netscape is nice, its different. but why install another bloated program on an already bloated system.
[its the slowest thing there is on a linux box. there i use konquer.]
I use several browsers: IE 5.5, Netscape 4.78, Netscape 4.6, Opera 5, opera 6
Netscape was my favourite but the new 6 is bad, bad, bad. So Opera 6 has become my favourite
I just love Opera: both on Linux and Win, it's fast most of the time, it doesn't crash as much as IE or NS6, it has a *logical* user interface with lot's of settings and
mouse gestures!!!
I use Netscape in combination with it's e-mail client. But this time it let me down since badtrans corrupted my mailbox so bad that Norton had to put it under quarantaine. there goes my faith in Netscape.
Anybody know a better e-mail program besides MSN or communicator?
My vote: Opera, then IE, and lastly Netscape.
Yeah: the mail prog in Opera 6Quote:

You can also use a stand alone mail prog like Eudora (in Windows I don't know it exists for Linux) or you can go back in time and use an email client like Pine.
i prefer IE, and i really like IE6. i always found netscape took too long to load and many times things wouldn't show up right for whatever reason. IE6 seems to be stabler than the older versions too, it hasn't crshed out on me yet and i've had it almost since it came out
in my experience, it depends on what Operating System you are using. If I am using Windows I prefer to use Internet Explorer which is compatible for the said software. However, If I use my supercomputer (which is my linux box)[LOL], I prefer to use the netscape browser or the mozilla.
heh.. well... i just got Opera and am using it as i type this. i must admit that i like better than both IE and Netscape.
Personally, I can't stand how IE has to be integrated to the nth degree, so much so that if something goes wrong with IE, explorer.exe (would you call that a kernel?) cascade faults into pick-random-error here.
That's unacceptable just due to the fact that they've never cleaned it up.
Netscape 6.x looks fairly ok, but now that AOL had bought it out a few years back, no way...I have enough of a hard time dealing with the fact that Windows WILL install "Online Services" no matter what you pick, and I will not have AOL-anything on my machine! I've heard either great stories or horrendous laments on 6.x's speed/etc but I myself am avoiding it.
Opera - now THIS is my choice. Loved the fact that I can have MDIs in an SDI (and with 6.0 you can choose to have it like that or separate windows). There's only two problems with it that I can see as being a bit of a hinderance. 1: a slow site to connect to slows down all site speed connections until it connects or times out and 2: plugin compatibility (while not THAT important). Both will be worked on, of that I have no doubt, and I find it a great substitute for both Internut Exploiter and Nutscrape. Oh yeah, I bought the licensed version to support it too. Here are some more nifty things that Opera has too:
1: mouse gestures! (when you get used to this, nothing else even comes close!)
2: integrated mail! (so it's not that great with certificates yet but who cares?)
3: easy to manipulate .ini files! (everything's a flat file in your opera directory...what could be easier?)
4: crashes WAY less and uses less memory! (actually I've never had it crash on me, ever...)
5: makes coffee! (well, almost, the plugin doesn't quite work yet, hehe)
All around, I suggest Opera all the way. It took me some time to get used to but now I can't use anything else. Check it out here .
i think that IE is much faster than Netspace and it works much faster and it has a nice newsgroup browser so i use both :D but generally i use IE, I havent tried Opera yet so i have no opinion on that :p
I like IE on windows xp and 98, but netscape is nice on linux. :)
