I'm sitting in my film and literature class watching Of Mice and Men. The film reaches a part when Lenny says 'nigger'. Someone in my class laughs for a moment, a black man in the class yells at him for racist actions, a white guy behind the black guy tells the black guy to shut up because he's talking during the film, the black guy becomes hostile to the white guy behind him thinking he is racist too, more ****..my professor has to talk with us about racism after the film. Why am I sharing this? (be prepared for my rant) I think everyone involved in this situation should ****ing grow up. Was the laughter racist? Maybe, but if so it was not harassment, it was not intended to harm anyone in anyway. But my point is not to defend someone laughing at this, my point is that we live in a society where people have the freedom to speak their minds and if you can't handle someone expressing something in a non aggressive way then sit inside your house and deal with it.
