Update: I've looked through some of my old software and found Caldera OpenLinux 2.4. Can anyone tell me if that is any good?
Problem: Is there anywhere I can get CDs with Redhat or Mandrake on them? I'm still using dial-up and don't want to spend 9 hours downloading it.

Where can you still legally download StarOffice 5? They no longer offer it on their website, but instead refer you to OpenOffice... Are there mirrors that offer it, or is it prohibited by the license?

Thanks. So Wine is quite stable then with basic
9x programs? At one time the only reason I kept
Windoze was because I couldn't replace Office,
but today the reason for keeping Win is LAN
parties...
chipmicroic:
Mandrake is currently in 9.0 beta. 8.2 is stable.

Go check out http://www.distrowatch.com
Lots of info there regarding the various distros.
Although, I have to say, as a first-timer you should probably go with RedHat or Mandrake. You can check out those as well as all of the others at the address above.

well personally
Just this very morning I got up, and thought to myself "today is a good day to spend ripping my hair out"
So about 2 hours ago I started installing Madrake 8.2 download edition (I got it on a linux format coverdisk)
And now I'm posting using Konqueror
Absolutely painless, not one hiccup.
I run an AMD with a small handfull of HDDs, and if anything the install was easier than a Windows install (No long activation codes to type)
hell, go with Mandrake, and then we can ask eachother stupid questions :-)
Regards
